Firewall will not allow you to connect to the game because it restrict the program from connecting to the server. It wouldn't, however, give you a string error message.

Message String Error refers to the scripts that is being run by the program and has encountered an error whilst the system is "reading" the particular script file.

Corrupt download wouldn't even allow you to install the game at all.

No, it simply means that the script being run by the program cannot be read by the system. I highly doubt reinstalling might work at all. But if you did try that and it works, it can be offered as a solution to others.

Just thought I'd ask. What O/S is that particular system using?

I'm running on Pro as well. No problems or issues for me though. Still it would help to know if his Service Packs are up to date.

The reason why I asked you to check for latest updates and service packs is simple. Users often encounter errors that relate to String Errors. A lot of times, these string errors happen because the user has not gotten the latest update.

The updates that MS releases are not just security updates. There are updates that updates how the system handles the running of VB. Installing the latest updates might help to solve the problem.
