You need another bard to play one of the music lines (like guard tambour) before you can start dancing. You'd look silly dancing without music. :)

Unfortunately Moving/Swing march don't count when it comes to using Dance
You can only use dance when the other bards are actively using guard tambour, mana tambour, or hit march.

BUT HERE'S SOMETHING YOU PROBABLY DON'T KNOW!:

The bard using the Dance skill can also use ANOTHER tambour skill as long as he switches it on AFTER he switches on dance.

For instance, the following is possible:

2 Bards:
1st Guard Tambour
2nd Dance of Magic AND Mana Tambour
or
1st Mana Tambour
2nd Dance of Valor AND Hit March
etc. etc.

3 Bards:
1st Guard Tambour
2nd Dance of Magic and Mana Tambour
3rd Dance of Valor and Hit March
or
1st Mana Tambour
2nd Dance of Healing and Guard Tambour
3rd Dance of Wizadry and Hit March
etc. etc.
the combinations keep going...

And for those who were wondering bards CAN attack when using these dances and tambours.

Are you able to sustain your own dance using your own tambour? Like for instance, a guy with bard sub puts on their harp, does guard tambour, you do a dance, then activate a tambour, then the other person switches out their weapon. Would you keep dancing? Or stop?

Your dance would stop, your tambour would remain. Basically with N bards, you can sustain N musics and N-1 dances.
