Yes. Silk and ingame gold are two different things.
Silk is a type of currency that you purchase with money IRL. Currently, it's 10 silk per 1 USD. You can purchase it from the official SRO website:

Silk can be spent in the Item Mall - press F10 while you're ingame. Items that you can purchase range from things to make you level faster, to bandit hats, and monkeys to pick up your drops. If you've ever seen a WHITE wolf running around, instead of the standard grey one, that's from the Item Mall.
The PT people are referring to is also an Item Mall item, under the tab, "Premium." It lets you log in on your first try, as well as many additional benefits, such as an EXP and SXP increase. However, the cost is expensive to some - 200 Silk for the Gold version, and 150 Silk for the Silver version.
