I already looked through the guides and subject was never touched.

The question is...

What EXACTLY must you make the wolf do in order to be

1.) More of a tank?

2.) More damage during attack?

I have yet to own one so uncertain as to how this is done but am shopping for one now and dont wish to ruin an investment when other out there already know what to do.

Also...

The "Guide" mentioned something about "magic users not having as great of a result with their wolf". Any truth to this or misleading statement?

Thanks

IMO, the wolf is an aesthetic complement having less actual uses other than just simply having a wolf to stop the boredom of the grind.

But in the rare cases, the wolf can tank quite a bit as long as you have the horse pills which is rather life saving.

But the wolf's ability to tank is never consistent enough as sometimes the monsters will attack it, while other times, they will go straight for you.

Dmg wise, the wolf will never do enough to be a significant part of your grind.

Again, its more for fun than for practicality.

Being pure int means that you will kill very fast, so having a wolf is redundant, meaning you will kill before the wolf even gets to the mob. It can tank well, but it is for hybrids and str chars mostly. well, imo anyway. The wolf get WAY more hp than you do per lvl up, so the tanking is great.

each time you kill mob pet gets pet exp points too (all not from your exp)

the wolf can be good to tank too later when it gets enough lvls
enough to keep another mob busy till you can get to it
or to keep another mob from attacking a low lvl you are helping lvl

and if you can 1 hit a mob
a wolf can kill 1 more mob while you do all the others so more exp faster for you in the end
8)

Well i dont understand the aggrosystem in this game but when my dog attacks a party mob it always or at least often attacks the dog even though im nuking it with my wizzard. maybe you dont get aggro or loose aggro when you go on max attack range? i also noticed something like that when playing my warrior... when i tank a mob and then i run away to tank another one while the first one is still alive, i often loose aggro even though the other party members barely attacked that mob o.O .

I think wolves are great for STR characters. I have one myself as a blader. It helps me kill a bit faster. When the mob I'm attacking gets low health, I'll simply move on to the next mob (pulling one in with a ranged attack if it's too far away) and let my wolf finish off the first mob.

As a blader, I can tank pretty good as it is, but it's even more helpful when some of the mobs turn their attention on my wolf and away from me. If my wolf's health gets too low, I feed her a recovery kit, or I hit the mob with a ranged attack or AOE damage from the skills I'm using on another mob.

Wolves are great! - not for INT though.

i don't agree with the point that wolf is not for int char.

1. When my average damage was near to 1 hit the mobs, the wolf can help finish up the mob while i move on to the next one.

2. When i was attack by more mob that i can handle, i would just run away. some mob will attack the wolf while the rest will come after me.

3. At the area of aggressive mobs, the mobs will usually attack the wolf first. So i get some free hits.

4. With the wolf, i can kill party or giant in 1-2 lesser hit.

Above are my experience with wolf while farming as a Lvl 16-20 Wizard.

Of course, they are not as useful to us, as compare to those str charactor, as we kill fast. But they works wanders to me.

Overall, I find that the wolf is great, definately worth the 1m.

What you're saying for INT makes sense. Now when you get around lvl 30 and get your nukes, you'll kill even faster, so your wolf wouldn't normally get any hits in on the mobs at all, but the wolf is still good for times when you need to run away like you said.

He could also help you grind on mobs a little higher level than you would normally grind alone. 1-2 nuke the mob and run off to the next one while your wolf finishes it off.
