As a pure int increasing his weapons Phy damage, it wouldn't do much more damage, just because the physical balance is very very low.
But of corse, all the little bits help!

As a pure Str increasing his Mag damage on his weapon, it wouldn't do much more damage as well, because of the low magical damage.

But it can help if you will pimp up your phy\mag balance a bit with extra str/int items.

to give a more precise answer, it only increases you attack power if you're hitting the other person with ur weapon melee style. if you're very close to being a pure int, you might not really be doing much melee, and thus, any phys smg increase which you add won't help you at all. On the other hand, if you're pretty hybrid, then the added phys will help a lot especially if you rely quite a bit on melee.
