Killing a wanted

I was a hunter and I saw a wanted. I killed him 3 times. But I only got 3 times 500 xp or something.

Is that the only thing you get when you kill a wanted? Or what am I doing wrong?

The thief needs to be in his/her job suit for you to get the Hunter XP.
