I have a D6 SosBlade that was +5 than I got it to +7. At the moment the blade has the following blues remaining; Int/Str 5 100%,Astral 1, Immortal 1, Lucky 1, Steady 3. I understand all the stats except the steady. I researched but alot of answers were unclear. If I try +8 and it fails will the steady keep it at 7+ and 1 steady will be used or will it drop back down to +4 because of the Astral. Is the Steady used for other forms of alchemy such as tablets?

While we're at it, which stones can add red durability? Jade? Ruby? Both?

You can't add red durability via stone, and you probably wouldn't want to either because it always produces a negative effect where it reduces durability. Obtaining red durability happens by chance during failure of enhancement of an item +5 or higher. This red durability can not be removed, and there is possibility for it to get worse if failure of the same conditions above continue. Jade Stone of Steady will prevent red durability from occurring. This can, however, be countered by adding blue durability which increases durability. Use a Jade Stone of Masters to increase durability. For white durability, only by assimilation can one change it stats.

I meant which durability stones can assimilate red durability, but judging by what you wrote, I suppose it's neither?

All stones have a chance to assimilate red durability. But no stone can affect it directly.

I got that red mark a couple of times when I was noob in alchemy and it always happened when trying to level up an item above +5 with elixirs. Theoretically it can happen when levelling up to +1 but it's really bad luck if you have it under +5. Above +5 the risk is high.

It's a permanent loss of durability and it can't be removed in any way not with elixirs nor stones nor assimilation during alchemy. All you can do is improve the white durability mark on the item itself with stones to compensate the original loss.

Steady on an item normally avoids that red mark.

Some items dropped from a unique have a red mark too, but different. Those items come in game with a very high durability (around 400) but can't be repaired. When the durability drops to zero your item is useless. There is a lot of scam with those items because less experienced players don't look at the durability and buy an item that they think is good but it has just 1% durability left on it. When it drops to 0% the item is definitely lost.

For starters in alchemy, if you want to push an item to a very high level always check if there is astral, immortal, luck and steady on it before every new attempt with stones or elixirs.

you can get red dura by plussing, for example if you go +7 without steaddy there is a chance you'll end up with a dura -99% weapon ^^
So thats what steaddy is for ^^ to prevent that from happening
