If the stats on the jewelry are to be considered %'s of damage absorbed, then I think someone could easily be invincible

with 9D sun+7earring, necklace, and both rings, at 61% the abroption would be 99.9%

so.. I think that the stats are percentages but 100% wouldn't be the max, if you know what I mean

Just wanted to share and discuss

Does anyone know how the accessory absorption rates are calculated? I'm not sure myself, but I doubt you would become invincible from that. I'm guessing the percentages aren't added to each other but instead absorb as a percentage of the remaining damage.

So if someone did 10,000 damage to a naked person with those accessories on (physical damage to keep it simple):
10,000 x 0.776 (Ring 1) = 7760 damage left
7760 x 0.776 (Ring 2) = 6021 damage left
6021 x 0.703 (Necklace) = 4232 damage left
4232 x 0.746 (Earring) = 3157 damage at the end

I'm just guessing but I think that's how it works. These accessories, since they ARE sun equips, would take off nearly 70% of the damage from a hit, and that in itself is really amazing. But the absorption will never reach 100% unless one of the accessories actually does hit 100%, otherwise it will just get really close to 0 damage.

i realized now that accesories are a big part of your gear because at my lvl mobs i was getting owned for 2k a hit but i got new accesories all +5 and full blues now im only getting hit for 250-500 dmg each hit of a mob... lawl

I agree, but if someone have the time to test in-game how it would be calculated and get some SS, then it would be great. I think my char is too low to test that, but i will try and see what would be the results and then comapre it to the absorption percentages and see what i will end up :)

Calculations sound too good to be true.
I would calculate them as such:

Physical absorption -

ring = 22.4 * 1.61 = 36.064
necklace = 29.7 * 1.61 = 47.817
earing = 25.4 * 1.61 = 40.894
total = 124.8 damage absorbed

Sorry, but I strongly disagree. Those are capped, max level Seal of Sun accessories that are worth hundreds of millions, in strong demand from the high levels in every server. They would not simply take off 124 damage at the levels where you take tens of thousands per hit. Sorry again, but it seems really, really absurd to say that.

Here is a little test you can do. Put on a cape and ask someone to normal attack you with imbue. Then take off all your accessories, and the damage should go up dramatically, even with all your clothes on. The higher level you are, the more your accessories matter. It's not even the clothes, but it's the jewelry that does most of the vital damage absorption. It's the difference between a level 1 ring that absorbs 0.1% of the damage, which is next to nothing, compared to the 20+% of high level rings and necklaces. I did this lots of times while playing with reflect. When completely naked, low levels who would usually do under 50 damage per hit were doing upwards of 2 - 3k per hit. After putting accessories on, it dwindled down to less than 1k.

Your calculations are also entirely mistaken, I'm afraid. In the first place, the accessories are not the same thing as straight-up physical or magical defense, so you don't simply add them together. Secondly, I am assuming that your 1.61 came from the +61% next to the percentage of absorption. As you know, all equips have those white stats with percentages next to them. Those white percentages are simply a variable range. For example, let's say an equip has 50 physical defense and it is at +0% white stats. If that equip had +100% on the white percentage, it might be at 60 physical defense instead. At 61%, it might be at 55 or 56. So, you see, you do not factor those percentages into a calculation at all! You also forgot to count the second ring. Remember, you can wear two rings. I still stand by my calculations and still believe they are correct and reasonable.

There's a problem. Order in which the accessories are used to reduce damage is also very important. I think the outcome is not the same if you change order.

True, but thats because increase by 10% means *1.1 and decrease of 10% is *0.9 and 1.1 * 0.9 is 0.99 and not 1.

In our case we have only decreases, which means 4 multiplications with numbers lower than 1. For example: 10000 * 0.8 * 0.8 * 0.7 * 0.6 = 2688. If you change the order it won't change anything cuz its a simple multiplication and the commutative law is allways correct in that situation ;)

Edit: Of course it will also work if we had increases... in your example it doesn't matter whether it's 10% increase and 10% decrease or the other way round, its 1.1*0.9 or 0.9*1.1 which is the same.

I agree with crazy_death. :)

The result is the same no matter how you look at the percentages. Basically, if you use my example again, you are starting with 10,000 damage and reducing it four times.

It's the same as: 10000 x (0.776 x 0.776 x 0.703 x 0.746) = 3157 end damage
Now, if you do 10000 x (0.776 x 0.703 x 0.776 x 0.746) = 3157 end damage
10000 x (0.746 x 0.776 x 0.703 x 0.776) = 3157 end damage
10000 x (0.776 x 0.746 x 0.776 x 0.703) = 3157 end damage

All you have to do is switch a few numbers around but the commutative multiplication rule always kicks in, in this case.
