Well, now that the gold bot companies have given up (for the moment at least) we can see just how popular and active silkroad really is:

Total servers capacity together: 85,575/145,700 ~58.7%

Just from this we can see that a whopping 42% of the "online" players were goldbots. The 58% people that are left are probably mostly all old players as well. Silkroad NEEDS new players or it will be dead in a few years (Surprised it's lasted this long)

Luckily for Joymax the older players are hookedd for life, because this game is SO DAM ADICTING! :D :D :D

Ofcourse there weren't any more players... because everyone else couldn't play because they couldn't log in! :sohappy:

Now the game has a chance to actually get more players, although they should've done this years back when the game was still fresh.

ALL the gameplay content for the game now is aimed for people lvl 100+ (the temples, FW, Triangular conflict, Battle Arena) so new players will have to make do with shitty quests and LOTS of lvling before they can join in with the Bigboys of the servers.

i guess you can subtract at least 50% of that(or more)
Because these 50% are the 2nd/3rd/4th/... characters of most of the botters. And/or their personal goldbots.

Many Botters got around 5 characters or more running at a time because modern PCs can handle them easily.

I'd love to come back and play, but for some reason my SRO client won't load. I'm running it in Linux and after the Silkroad Guard comes up, it just goes back to the launcher. I don't want to have to put Windows XP back on my system just to play SRO. :(

There are still some gbots at ice (just noticed at Oasis). I think they just take another route to trainingplace instead of the way to Karakoram (Entrance at Mujigi/Ujigi spot I mean which is full of bot traps).
Plus some old players who just log in when its possible joined too I think.
But ya there are mostly bot players plus their 2nd, 3rd chars.. Still Joymax should earn a nice amount of money monthly...

Get a reasonable priced laptop and load Linux on that and use your current machine for SRO.

OT: I think what we will see here is a huge spike again of real players (mostly new ones) entering the game and bringing it back to life. But only if Joymax keeps this thing up which it looks like they will. Us veteran players will once again see how the game used to be when it was buzzing with players.

I'm already seeing an influx of "100kplyz" players.
