Hello SRFers.

I have been experiencing this issue since the Legend V update, and I wonder if I m the only one experiencing it and I really need help here. I don't know why I haven't discussed the issue since it has happened to me, but I think I have been patient enough. Here it is:

In the morning, I start my client normally, grind some, stall some, go AFK for a few hours, come back etc.

The issue is, when I start my SRO client, the RAM usage is around ~ 300,000 - 350,000. Few hours later, my RAM usage for SRO goes up to 500,000 +. The more time I leave SRO open, the more RAM it consumes and recently it has turned to 760,000.....

And as a result of this, my Computer restarts on its own everyday, at night when I m stalling, even sometimes when griding, I can't predict when it is going to restart.

Please help me with this issue, why does my RAM usage keep on increasing? It makes the game so incredibly laggy and I can't even play. And is the computer restarting because of the horrible increase in the RAM usage? I have checked my fan and the CPU and the temperature is fine, nothing wrong about it.

My PC specs and a screenshot of the increased RAM usage for SRO is posted below....

Again, PLEASE try to help me as much as you can. Any questions are welcomes and any opinions...just no flames.

Thanks a lot, yours.
majincooler.

Minimize the client when your stalling and close any other programs that uses resources.

I recommend you exit explorer.exe while stalling, the saved resources will help believe me

I did close almost everything, even Kaspersky, firefox, MSN. I even use MemTurbo to help me, but it doesn't really seem to work. :banghead:

Is that problem happening to you also?

Sro uses 700-750mb on windows7 so that isnt weird, but seeing as your on xp it is weird, are you stalling in middle of town or in an "out of the way" area? And your pc shouldnt restart because of ram usage unless your ram is failing, run memtest86 sometime, other than that i couldnt tell you whats going on, i remember when i was on xp sro used usually 300mb and 400mb max after hours of stalling.

Same, here SRO used to take the same amount of RAM 300 - 400 MB as yours, before legend V update, but since then things pretty much got fucked up on my PC :S Nah, my stalls are usually on the most non-laggy places around the town. The RAM usage keeps on increasing no matter what I am doing, just affected by how long SRO is open, its never constant and never decreases, just increases.

It could be the affinity you set your sro client to,
I know when I have both mine checked performance is not so good.

It seems every new client they produce the more ram it tends to eat. Would need a programmer to actually find out why they need so much.

My SRO Priority is set on: Below Normal and I haven't changed it before. What should I set it at?
My SRO affinity has a tick mark on CPU 0, CPU 1 & CPU 2 and that's also as a default. What should I do?

@asusi: I have every setting on low detail.

the only way to decrease it is to minimize the client once a while, which won't happen because you are afk sleeping
Joymax's coders are bad, especially, the game is coded in unmanaged language like C++

Seriously, why do you people have to hide processes and name in your task manager? It's not like someone is going to hack your pc by just knowing the name or what?

Doesn't it work the same as MemTurbo? I use the paid version. Anyways, I ll try it. More suggestions about the reason of the problem are welcome.

Nothing helps. It loads everything and drops nothing. The RAM usage is cumulative.

Well ur right when u say that sro uses more ram now than before, i dont know why it is real, i used to leave my char stalling and watching anime/movies on internet, but since the alexandria update my pc lags so bad, sometimes it stops playing movies for like 30 secs then suddenly it plays again, thats weird.

Listen, u have some options which i will list ahead, but i think the real and unique option for you and me is stop playing this game and thats not an option for me haha :nowant: :

1.- Run memtest on your pc, this app its better than the ones u listed, at least it is for me.
2.- Remove, clean and reinsert ur memory card (RAM) ometimes they arent well pluged and that causes errors, trusth me, that shit happens.
3.- You need to fix the amount of processes running on ur pc, in the pic u posted it shows that u have 40 running which is a lot, mine runs only 20-22 normally and it still laggy, figure out why urs lag haha.
4.- If all that doesnt work and ur pc is still laggin/freezin/restarting, then u may need to reformat C:.
5.- If all that still not working then u def need to stop playing SRO, or buy a new PC.

Good luck.

I suggest only using 1 - 2 core(s) on sro

edit: just thought of something, It might just be your power supply that keeps Farking everything up, I remember when my old PSU was about to go, whitest gamin' my computer would constantly shut down

Is 40 a lot?
Mine runs 93 right now (usually about 80-95)

I don't really know why it requires so many processes. I mean.. there are like 6 "svchost.exe" at the same time xD

Anyway, good luck solving your problem. Right now Silkroad takes 672.260 kb which is quite normal on Windows 7 I guess.

Alright brother, I ll try most of these options, but definitely i wont buy a new PC for just SRO. :banghead:
Formatting the C and a new windows is not worth SRO really, I don't need this sort of troubles.
I ll do what you said about the RAM and give feedback, although I recently cleaned my PC from dust. :x

If you replaced one of your older ones w/ a same or lower watt power supply no doubt it would happen again, perhaps it's the outlets you're using?

it isnt a ram issue per say...
its a program issue, it uses a lot of ram, just that. ram itself is fine

using cleanmem i can keep sro using between 400-700mb even leaving it up all night (not botting, just dont logout lol)

SRO has a known memory leak. Pre 90 cap I used to hit 2gb usage while playing.

So my PC restarting issue is because of my Power supply, not because of the increasing RAM consumption by time?

PS: I am sure that my PC only restarts when left for a long time with SRO open, if i leave it normally, it won't do that. :!:
