I may be mistaken, but this; Quote: Virtual currency, as defined by Chinese authorities, includes "prepaid cards of cyber-games," according to a joint release issued by China's Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Commerce on Friday. Could mean Chinese people wont be able to pay for World of Warcraft gamecards too or any other game for that matter, only paying with credit cards ect.

yea that would probably give it more meaning, but there isnt a massive gold farming company based out of the netherlands, its something china has to deal with, and theyre trying, so i give them an A for effort but not so sure on a follow thru grade... give it some time, theyll either stop caring or theyll hold up to there word.

I have a question, how does China banning gold farming have anything to do with a Korean game?

Edit: is no1 else as excited as i am at the thot of just populated servers in isro? Do you know anything about the United States? The same thing that happens over here is going to happen there in China, or anywhere else that imposes such limitations on "business oprations". They simply pack up and relocate to another country that they can do their work at the same or even lower costs. The working population gets left behind as the big managers move their operations to a new population. That is assuming they don't find a loophole to exploit and continue going on as they were. India is my best guess that will start to becoming the predominate gold farming capitol if the Chinese government goes through with completely obliterates this. They have a large population of people who work extremely low paying wage jobs. That's why the US was outsourcing IT departments, programmers, etc.. to India over the past decade as well as opening overseas manufacturing plants in 3rd world countries. Also unlike IT call centers, you don't need workers with "people skills" or "IT knowledge", so anyone can do the work. India does have its own problems though, such as the brownouts and general internet connectivity issues in large regions, but I'm sure they'll figure something out. If anything, you might see a temporary disruption in the gold bot/gold selling business in Silkroad, but it's far from being something that will stop gold farming and return Silkroad to the good ole days. For that to happen, Joymax would need to intentionally destroy the gold bot farming business, which they are more than capable of if they really wanted to, but Joymax benefits most from it. Think about all the premiums that are bought for the sake of being able to not spend hours logging in. For anyone who has visited the new Ch'in Tomb, you can't tell me that wasn't intentionally designed for people to spend money on Reverse Returns, pets, or HP/MP bags, bolts/arrows to extend how much time you can stay out there before having to return back to town. Likewise for how much exp and sp you need to have a decent character at a high level, SP ticket + prem. Not to mention avatars and the devil spirt to give you an edge. It's all quite an elaborate business plan they have going on and it's working.

Farm gold Give gold outside of China. Sell while outside of China. Go back to China with money. lulwut? If I understood correctly gold farming itself is still there, but selling any virtual currency isn't allowed. All I see is that this will basically stop big gold farming companies whereas small ones can still do w/e with taking the risk without China finding out. @Above yeah because everyone uses sbot and clientless bots.

With government intervention like this one you can rest assured that a ban like this wont last too long. Don't get me wrong I love that China is doing this but sooner or later they will start to allow it again but they will just tax the gold farmers instead of outright banning them.
Something interesting to note in that article as well is that this gold farming business is generating a lot of money per year (146million). There is no way that JM is not getting a piece of that pie. Its their game after all. Now we can say with absolute certainty that JM is behind SRO's problems.

Looks like a crocodile...Moves like a crocodile...Behavioural patterns of a crocodile...Feels like a crocodile... But you still ain't convinced yet uh...Well I guess there is only one thing left for you to do in order to make sure you are a man. All the signs pointing to this and it still may not be right. Yes I know. But it seems you're the kinda "non rag" fella that would bet on the horse with 5000 to 1 odds hoping for that miracle.
