 Post subject: Silkroad at 60 cap, and now.

I quit playing silk road about a year ago because i was tired of being heavily addicted to a game just because of my competitive nature to be the best. I re downloaded the game a month ago and immediately uninstalled it and never plan on coming back. Back in the days of the 60 cap, SRO was such a better game, maybe not in complete game play, but in concept. Here's why:

60 Cap...
Achievable level goal, less bots
More skill based pvp instead of higher level wins
More time to find weapons, a fortune due to not having to grind 24/7
- thus less gold bots
- less bought characters
Not always having to grind or turn to a bot to be capped.

100 Cap...
Bots
Almost unacheivable cap
Bots
Bots
Gold Bots
the game becomes a job, and is less fun
pvp is aggravating when not close to capped
Bought characters, bought weapons, bought gold
Servers are packed


EDITED: Changed "90 cap..." to "100 cap..." which makes this topic even sadder.

I remember trying out SRO when Xian was the only server, then I quit because my computer was a piece of junk. Then I tried again, with the same computer, but this time there were like 10 servers, I remember Olympus or w.e was the newest one and the level cap was 70.

Good times.

That is how life goes, new things are more exciting, more fun, more enjoyable once you find that certain love you will always want to go back in the past.... get used to it, learn how to keep yourself entertained even with all those "bad influences"


Anyone who just started with silkroad still feels the same fun we all had when we started, the conditions just changed in those years and most of the old players just saw the changes.

That would have no points because most servers already have an increased exp/sp rate(I think some servers also have the sp rate higher than the exp rate, so less farming is required). So you will get closer to the cap anyway.

Its not the cap you enjoyed, rather the fact that bots were really uncommon back then. I think that if people had the same attitude back at 60cap as now, you would still enjoy it as much. It would be even better because reaching 100 would be such a hard task.

I agree with the thread starter. If the cap was left at lvl 60 (or the exp gain rate was reasonable) the game would be fun. Any MMO that places great emphasis on reaching the cap gets real boring real quick. Blame greedy game publishers. The more you play the more you are inclined to pay. Thats why they make it such a drag to reach the cap. We all know this.

100cap is not that bad guys :) "no pain no gain" and that's one of the "uniqueness" of the game.

The first phase of 80 cap was nice aswell.
70 cap was the best though, imo ^^
