*Yes this is the second thread I've made today with the first word being "grinding" = p*

Alright so hopefully I'll be coming back to Silkroad soon I haven't been able to play for the past 3-4 weeks. Long story short it involves parents  .

Anyways, when I come back I'll be making a chinese char sand I'm trying to decide between glavie, blade or bow. I'm leaning towards glavie or bow so that grinding is quicker. I've been youtubing *new word?* and I've come across these three videos of a glavie, bow and blader grinding away.

Glavie grinding:
Code: Select all

Bow grinding:
Code: Select all

Blade grinding:
Code: Select all
Tbh, the bow grinding looks like a hell of a lot more fun then the glavie. Only problem with bow is that I hate having to carry arrows and that I've never gotten one over level 23

So yeah what are your thoughts?

Edited:Added different glavie video and added a bladers video = )

bow isnt bad if you pick up arrows while grinding, so you can refill yourself without going to town :s

But when do the skills start being "fun" I don't like Autumn wind so I basically use the same skills from level 7-24 which gets boring.

If you are worried about the skills looking spiffy and not all too repetitive, I'd go with glaive if I were you. Bow isn't bad, but the skills do look a little dry. The strong bows all look alike until the 100 cap one, the explosion arrows do have some bad ass explosions, but it really is just the same skill. Anti-devils always look the same, the angle and brightness just changes on the cone. Bow is kickass at grinding though, and with their 6-arrow combo they'll be annoying as hell too.

that first one looks more like a hybrid then a pure str glavie, bad video quality i can't really make out hp/mp, just saw that dude nuking. And i tell its semi boring but after playing wiz my 70:70 today was kinda fun, i could tank penon at 35 some how (at least 1 and live to run away)
and the grinding is awesome with 70:70 in certani ares, you use all distance moves to lure mobs then you aoe a huge crowd of them, with snow sheild on you can tank like a blader, with out you can still tank like 10 mobs at once, and all the aoe you get makes them die super fast its better then normal solo grinding almost compares to partying, gave up on it before i hit caves though cause my mastery = total fail at higher then 80 cap (had force, no where to put that now) and i'm not a big glaive fan.

Was cool though i hit for 2.5k on a d9 with a lvl 35. with that breaking jade move on the 2nd hit crit, even naked hitting a pure str for that much. (naked cause i got him murderer status and he was running thru gate over and over again).

I jsut made a chin bow lol.
Lvl 4 now w00t!

Edit.
I capped a Bow in Alps during the 80.
70:70 Ice Light Bow with Garment
So I know exactly how is it going to be.
With that setup basically i wouldn't have any problem with grinding speed, most mobs can be 1 shotted and 2 shot at max (+5 Weapon or above).
Only problem is when you came across an area with PT mobs...
Especially PT Giants, run when Snow shield is not on lol.
ofc u can opt Prot. Then it should b ok.

use icewall/freeze on pt mobs :S

tanking doesnt mean standing there and letting them hit you :S

not that bad, can easily go out with way less hp pots, maybe for me its no problem cause my solo grind times are max 2 hours an outing, and thus i didn't need more then 2 row of arrows, even then never ran out, with all the extra dropping arrows, only ran out in ctf once

A glavier nuking? Not a good idea IMO -.-

Anyway, I'm also starting a new glavie on Fembria. After some reseach I decided to go with glavie because of personal preference, better looking skills and weapons, strenght at both pvp and pve (More than blade at pve and still good at pvp, jobbin, etc). And the bes part is that due to the low sp it requires I can 2 gap all the way and not farm (That's on Fembria because skills are only lvl 70, you shouldn't have to farm a lot either on iSRO).

ya only good if heavy int hybrid but still spear perfered,
the nuke isn't much dmg with the 70:70 but it ok dmg and a good aoe move (kind of an amendment my previous post)

Go blade glaive is the most broing chinese build... it is literaly 3 skills 24/7 atleast bow and blade you can alternate how you kill.
The only bonus glaive has is the damage but that doesnt make up for the mind numbing boredom that is grinding a glaive

I did some nivlaming last night and figured out that for a 100weapon/fire/80light/20ice that glavie and bow were about the same sp requirement. While blade costs about 200k more to be FF.

Yeah I couldn't really find another youtube video with a glavie just grinding so I had to settle for that one.

Yeah, that's what I've never gotten over level 23 *with a constant 3 gap* so I've never actually gotten to sue the explosion arrows skils, strong bow or mind bow. So I wonder if it's more fun when you can use them. Cause I style of grinding when you lure a bunch of mobs on yourself and just use AoE skills to finish them off while still luring more mobs. *Like the bow video

Oh well, I can actually only talk about ecsro and its 90 lvl 70 skill cap. To make 90 fire 70heusk/light I only need 333k (Getting all impiortant skills maxed) and I get 334.5k from 2 gapping all the way till 90, so that's why I say it's so easy on exp, no farming ftw!

Dunno why you're choosing a chinese char if you want grinding fun ;\

euro party play is sooo much more fun.. anyway, if you plan to buy a pickpet go bow, if not go glavie, that's what I'd do at least.

When I come back I won't have much time to look for party's. So I figured that I'd might as well go with a chinese char.

i know i know i keep going on about the 70:70 (sorry had fun with it last night) But if thats your style of grinding you might really like it, you just can't get force in like i tried with mine, ask barotix for some advice on it but thats how i grinded with it, lure lure lure aoe aoe aoe, heuk has some good aoe plus light imbue, light nuke/ shout, you get some good luring/mass killing going on.

Of course bow is great at it too, and they don't gota really move around much or aim their luring with mind bow, they have less aoe at their disposal though.

If I did go with 70:70 would I go with light/ice? Since I'll need the higher level of ice to compensate for my lack of hp.

treat it more like an str, baro vs my semi identical build kicked my ass every time cause of fire (and sos) (he had fire/light/ ice, i had ice/ light/ force)

idk we need baro to tone in on this one for a good 100 cap masteries. You defiantly need light for grinding but for pvp you're going to want fire, this build will notice dmg increase in the imbues big time, you also want a decent phys increase buff. Hmm 30 ice maybe idk if that'll be enough you got extra hp to back it up and should be in prot, but that'd leave you with 70 light and 100 fire, to really maximize your dmg, or maybe switch the fire and light, but you're already lower on defense with a 30 snow shield so i say keeping the fire up for magic defense might be a good way to compensate. then again whats the dmg increase buff rom 70 to 30 let me look this up

edit

and you're hp with heuk passive plus the heavy hybrid isn't all that bad and you got good magic/ physical defense naturally because of magic/ physical balance

Now normally i would say take a glaive build BUT after i played a glaive on EcSro till lvl 65 i must say that they get a bit boring in the length.

The bow build is one of my favorite chinese builds and also the one i started with in the very beginning of sro :)

All in all, take a bow build as they are fun and after 14 days you don't even bother about the arrows anymore, i am sure ;)

Now you might not take my advice for much as i got a very low post amount here on silkroadforums but i have been playing silkroad since 2006, i am just only doing replies on important threads 8)

Good luck with your choise :D

That glaive video is horrid. Chains? For grinding? HA. Maybe if I have the time I'll make a real glaive grinding video.
