I was wondering, would you take less damage if you wore jewelry that was the same level as you? Im lv 47 almost 48 and still wearing lv 1x jewelry cause of the int and str points. if i switch to jewelry around my level, would i take less damage?

Yes yes yes. The absorption rates are there for a reason, and they are higher on the higher level jewelry for a reason.

Definitely get accs your lvl! They help A LOT!

I did a damage test a while ago.

Ok, so my friend and I were both lvl 65. When I was wearing accs he hit me for 1k, without he hit me for 3.3k

At your lvl just try to get +3 accs with a bit of int and str here and there.

Yes I agree they are important, but they cant be more important than your set or weapons and shields.

Well lets answer your question mathematically. Lets say your current 4 jewels grant 0.25% phy and mag absorption each. I know thats not the exact figure but tis easy to work with. Now that gains you 1% mag/phy absorption. Of an average attack of 1000 damage, you absorb 10 damage, not a whole lot.

Now lets say the average jewel at lvl 48 is 10%. Again figures made up but im sure its close to accurate. Now that's 40% total, meaning you will take 600 damage in theory.

Although dont quote me on this, because if you stack that with snow shield and tambors you get well over 100% absorption, so dont ask me how its calculated. But in essence, you will take a lot less damage.

Jewelry is the single most important part of the set. You can lose other parts and continue to do well in a fight. A weapon is definitely needed to kill someone else, but as far as survivability jewelry is #1. xP

Actually.

i have fought a warrior with, essentially, the same weps i have. I am in HA he is in robes (2 sun pieces but w/e, still like 300 less phys than me.

He has a sun +5 neck however.

I hit him for only about 700-1000 more than he hits me in HA.

so go figure.

I'd take sun neck over sun chest + legs any day.

This depends on what build you have but overall this is false.

I personally always considered the best defense as the first start to win a battle, reason why a lot people whine about warrior/clerics since they are basically overpowered in their defense.

Stupid?

Like the_Wicked said, try pvping someone with sun jewels instead of sun set and see your dmg. This is a fact and its been proven before, make a test by yourself and see it.

And btw, by set i refer to gears not weapons. And i think no one count weapon as set since when you sell/buy a set it doesnt comes with a weapon.

you should always be able to find accessorys with str & int that are better than lvl 1
they are so important, it is surprising that so many dont even wear any
more better for us that do

people sell "garm sets" "jewel sets" and "weapon/(shield) sets"
put them together = a set

accessorys are almost more important than clothes in a sense...thats why you see like lvl 90s sometimes in noob gear..still taking alot of damage..cause they have accessorys on still.. i mean dont get me wrong your armor still is vital ..but the acc are very important

RedBlueGreen you're totally going way off the conversation, dont be dumb and stupid by trying to convince everyone weapon is the most iimportant thing, of course it is but we're talking here about jewels and most of the people agree that they are the most important thing to wear, GTFO already.

Lulz, Jewels are most important defence-wise indeed, if your talking about Overall RedBlueGreen is simply right.

You are 76, i am 76, you have a d1 weapon, i have d1 jewels (like the topic starter) whos gna win ? xD

I agree with that, but if you have godly defense, it won't matter if you have a weapon or not. You won't kill the other player(unless you have some crazy high stats), but they won't be able to kill you either. Neither side wins the battle.

For example : GM
Code: Select all

haha wayyy OT

It makes no sense to argue about whether armor or accs are more important to defense. The fact is you need to keep them both current to better your chances of survival.

you need the best numbers on each peace of gear you have..

no point in having sun garment and having say acc's that are 20 lvls lower just cose they have full blues..
