But then you turn around and see the masses of professionals in various fields that do drugs and are actually very successful in life. Then again, there are also those who are hopelessly addicted and will never stop using them. And that is what I mean. You are that rehabilitated drug addict that genuinely believes anyone who uses will never reach their level of enlightenment and clarity, and everyone using is hopelessly lost and addicted because in the past they were hopelessly lost and addicted because of their lack of self-control. Sure sounds like one of those Drug abusing law school students i knew back in the years... Abuse drugs and still score straight 1s in college thinking they are in control... Well... all i wanted to say is... Most ppl think they could overcome the addiction when they start. Lost it after.. Drug addition will destroy u, just a matter of time.

Just because we all play SRO it doesn't mean we've all encountered or should be experiencing the same things. He doesn't know the personal lives of anyone on here.

barefootdan wrote: i actually agree 100% how will this game make you better in future life? are you going to put "IM LEGIT" on your resume? no, you could be doing other productive stuff that can help you in your REAL life. no one will care if your a FF lvl 100, or if your a noob. Do you think anyone will care if you put "100+ kills per hour in a Quake 3 Arena deathmatch" on your resume? What about "high score XXXXX in Snood" or "Broke Kansas City record for record time beating Super Mario Bros." on your resume? Video games are for entertainment. There's no harm in playing a game for entertainment. Regardless of whether it's a video game, sporting event, school assignment, inter-department work project, or something else, if you "play by the rules", it says something about you as an individual. It says a 'good thing' about you. This 'good thing' may mean more for real-world things like not cheating on a school test, or not sleeping your way up the corporate ladder and actually earning your promotions... but personally, I think it says at least a little something about the individual who doesn't cheat their way through a game and instead plays by the rules. Sure, this won't be enough to matter on a resume, but I do think what you do in game has at least somewhat of an impact on what you do in real life. Regardless, it's pretty pointless to come in here telling everyone that they are 'wasting their time' entertaining themselves. I guess people that attend Cirque du Soleil or watch the latest NBA game live are wasting their time too? It's all about entertainment.

Maybe I should send my resume to Blizzard, with some info about my SRO poorly underfarmed lvl 54 blader and a few other characters under lvl 40, underfarmed. I'm sure I'd get a GM position in no time!

At first I was following you roflcopter, and I know that when you said that people who continue to play are head cases, you were trying to just emphasize your point, a mistake I sometimes make while writing when I feel passionate about my points. However, I think you should have just excused yourself for making it seem as if you were trying to demean anyone, and just clarify your point. Instead you just perpetuated it by repeating it over and over.
I recently quit this game, and like you said, after I quit I felt my whole being awashed in regret for ever wasting my time after my friends had quit 2 caps ago. I was fueled by an addiction to hit lvl 90.
When I finally hit lvl 90, I felt my addiction die down and tried to just sit back and enjoy the game (though I knew this was futile), I got to Lvl 95, during which time I had no choice but to grind with the most hardcore botters, who went afk right in the middle of a grinding session. The worst part was when I want to pvp in capes, people who were jealous of your level or idiots who settle in the battle areas just gank you in groups of 5+. Is this what I farmed for? Is this what I hand grinded for? And worst of all, is this what I spent an hour logging in for? Or Spending x amount of dollars trying to get into? I was hit like a wall of bricks with the realization when it was time to quit.
I agree with Ping lo 150%, he didn't put himself above anyone, he was also very open about his feelings about the game and this forum community, anyone who attacks him is truly just a fool who is trying to justify their needless addiction.
Ultimately, the only way anyone in the community is going to learn how horrible this game is and stay away from it forever is by actually playing the game until their own addiction runs out and they're hit like a wall of bricks by the truth. I've read hundreds of these threads and my only reaction was, "I have a job, a girlfriend, I go to school!" and to silk buying: "It's my money and I can do what I want with it."
This game is a horrible investment in both money and time. Yes, we can do what we want with our money, but the fact that my and anyone who is just seeking fun, has their money sent to a greedy company who does nothing for it's players... I just can't justify it in my mind.
We can say the same about our tax dollars, ultimately you still have to pay taxes, so who cares right? People still care because they work hard to make that money and they want to make sure the money that is mandatory for them to pay anyway is not being wasted, that some of that money is being used for their (our) benefit.

I.. uhm, yeah i think is just a hobby. Hobby is something you need to do to "waste" your time having fun when you are bored. So, Watching tv is a hobby and a hobby is wasting of time. Playing video games is a Hobby and a hobby is wasting of time. Playing Silkroad is a Hobby and a hobby is wasting of time.
Maybe there is something a little quite productive. Like Watching Tv News, or playing games that makes you learn educational stuff. And Silkroad... increasing your friendship maybe? lol
Anyways, i do play only when i really get bored.
