hmm, interesting point of view, but, if I know what I'm thinking of Ryoko-Ohki (gotta love Tenchi!) is the main moderating source, it does most of the locks, edits and what not, it is an anonymous account, no real person behind it and is somewhat a figurative form of the forum itself within a single account that has the ability to post.

in lamens terms; what Ryoko-Ohki (and Ryoko) say is final.

and actually it is quite right. you don;t have freedom of speech on a forum, you agree to the terms when registering, the owner of the forum and website has the right to restrict any form of content they please, it is their own island in the giant internet sea with hteir own laws.

hell, let's say, for instance that on SRF, the word cheese is extremely offensive and in no form at all is allwoed to be used.

cheese.

by doing this, under the laws of the owner of the forum, I have just broken a contract (the terms and aggreement for registering), this gives the owner, and selected moderators the opportunity to deal with me as they seem fit.

heck they could ban someone for saying good morning in them ost polite manner if they wanted to, its their forum, Ryoko's forum.

i think i got my point across....

I don't want to look too negative about this moderating theam infact i noticed this "bad" post exactly becouse it is very different to how they use to act.

Anyway in regard of your post a forum is a place made for people to share their opinions and their experience and the moderators are the ones that have to keep it "clean".

It's simple really: it's in the interest of both users and moderators that everyone respects the rules and at the same time respects the people posting on here to create a good atmosphere.

Act like you say ,and i repeat as i don't think Ryoko & co do, would just lead to keep all the mature posters away from the forum making it a worst place for everyone,expecially for mods and admins that worked hard on this site and would see it going downhill.

Uhh is insulting someone without reason(a cop no less) really considered something you should be able to do with freedom of speech, just because you can doesn't mean you should.

lol take sro for example, you are free to go anywhere and kill anyone, but if you kill someone you get a penalty, just because your free to do so doesn't mean there aren't consequences, if that made sense >.>.

Not really,sorry.Try again,better luck next time :P

If the original poster or any of his or her banned friends are still following this thread, they should pay close attention to Sekhmet's posts. That is how to properly express yourself like a mature adult with what you feel is a legitimate objection.

Sekhmet, I am going to take a leap here and guess that what you really object to in Ryoko-Ohki's post is the last part -- "Deal with it." Aside from that the post is as Ryoko said, blunt and impersonal. It is true that there is no freedom of speech on the internet, and it is true that whoever runs the message board is in control of the users' "rights", or more accurately: privileges.

So can we agree that "deal with it" is what you see as "the expression of someone on a power trip"? If so, you are assuming that it is said in anger. Why? This mod is typically blunt and impersonal; isn't it just as likely that "deal with it" is blunt and impersonal as well? It is a command, which says "I have power", but is it really a "power trip" if it is simply the truth? Ryoko-Ohki *does* have power. Personally I think "deal with it" is good advice. It is a very blunt application of the serenity prayer:
Quote:
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

No Bake i might have not made my point clear.

With the expression "power trip" i don't mean that he was in anger,i just meant that he took the chance to show that he has some power over others wich is something that, expecially when you have the power, should try your best to avoid.

It's this sentence i dislike becouse show that he/she/it is looking at thing from the wrong prespective.

It is true that when you register for the forum it says that moderators can delete my posts or ban me if they like,but it is also true that before being a forum user i'm an human and i expected to be threated as one.

As i said i "pretend" that my words are respected as far as they aren't offensive or against the rules ;this has very little to do with forum rules and mentioning it is just missing the point.

It has to do with knowing how to deal with people and this comes before any written rule .
The day i will see that an educated and constructive post i made gets deleted i know i will be gone,and i'm sure so would most of the people that don't come here just to claim that they botted to level 80 or CCFED their +7 weapon(as you see it's simple to change it,all it takes is leave the forum).

they do have the power to do what they like but it's in everyone interest that they dont abuse it nor force it onto others,and this was the whole point of my post,even tho it's a different situation what would you think if JoyMax started banning random people and the answer was "i can,haha owned"?

Anyway didn't really want to start all this, was just a comment about a one time post i didn't like.

Oh, my mistake. I spent some time writing out a series of responses, continuing our interesting discussion, when it hit me that all you want to do is armchair quarterback from the peanut gallery, and I've made you uncomfortable by continuing the discussion beyond the point to which you've thought out your arguments (which consist of an unsupported assertion, an inference from insufficient data, and two red herrings, in that order).

I'm sorry to read a post like this from you but here you go:

I never once implied that it was what happened on this forum nor i had any intention to make a crusade against Ryoko & co, i have even repeated many times for people that might lack of reading skill that i have never had any problem with moderators on this forum, it was just a comment about that single sentence that to me looked that way,hence the last line of my post.

The rest of my reply was aimed to what you and Demarhel said,it was just a simple discussion about a general matter,not about this single forum,something i assumed was obvious for everyone to see.

I apologize for the misunderstanding i must have overstimated the reader,i should have repeated that in every sentence of my posts.

So if you want to discuss my arguments "till the end" since i have no problem taking it there , take a deep breath and try to understand that we moved on from the discussion about that particular post and this forum and we can again enjoy a conversation about how "A" forum should be controlled by mods.
