Sorry if I've offended you with my personal opinion. I certainly didn't intend to do so. However, I don't think my critique deserved such a hostile response. I certainly am not in a position of misunderstanding.

For starters, I am completely against racism or prejudice of any form, but my above philosophy was not inherently racist. A person does not choose the location of their birth or their initial social status or their sexuality. Because of this, nobody has the right to judge them based on these factors.

However, a person is not born a chav, a goth, a townie, a geek, etc. Thier personality may draw them to one particular lifestyle more than another, but ultimately you make a choice to lead the lifestyle you want based on your tastes, preferences and ideologies.

In the case of chavs and goths, I dislike them because they have conciously made such a choice. They are part of a scene or movement which represents a distinctive view on life, and their view from my perspective is arrogant and closed-minded to the point of ignorance.

I'm not criticising their taste in music or clothes, etc. (for example, I enjoy metal and am in fact quite partial to gothy-looking clothes) I'm criticising the way they treat others and their general disrespect.

Sure, I'm stereotyping, but I'm afraid that is based solely on experience. I can honestly say that I have only met a handful of people who fall into the 'chav' demographic that I could actually consider to be nice people. And yes, I have met several 'goth' teenagers who are respectful, polite members of society. On the whole though, I feel very sorry for the children and the elderly in my nearest city who walk in fear of the chavs and goths loitering around, vandalising and troublemaking.

So again, I apologise for any offence caused, particularly if you consider yourself a part of either lifestyle. However, I maintain my opinion based on the evidence I've seen and will continue to share it with anyone, regardless of whether it is considered controversial. In other words, no, I won't keep it to myself.

That’s a fair enough, but your first post was racist and stereotyping to certain members/cultures of society.

Although you’ve said you met a few exceptions that were genuinely nice and good hearted people regardless of who they hung around with, how they dressed or acted , I dare say I could argue the fact have you even attempted to get know the other 90% ?

I may have gone a bit “mental” in my previous reply, sorry about that.

But taking such a narrow minded view on today’s different cultures, be it goths, chavs etc is just as bad as making a comment as the book store clerk did.

It might not be acceptable to us how others act, dress or what they do. But to them it is and we’ve all had some form of this racism at some point in our lives, why perpetuate the cycle that’s all I’m saying.

And no offence but you’ve done exactly the same thing, again a narrow minded view and untrue to a certain extent. I’m not trying to turn this thread into a flame fest so I’m going to leave it there.

Shit because I am the only Indian who plays MMORPG, or any other games for that matter in my Indian friend circle.

Anyway on topic,

That is just bad refering to anyone by racial slurs.
Do not ever shop there find other shop no matter if you have to walk two miles to go there and buy from there. Before you do that go to that store and tell that Mama kiss why you choose not to shop there, fillout a complain mentioning exactly what happend. And never go back there.

ROFL! I'm a moron just for calling someone a black/indian/etc. instead of just calling them 'that person'? What is wrong with that? Even you call yourself an Indian. Are you afraid of others calling you what you are?

Its not about calling An Indian, "Indian". Its about calling them "Black ghost" in this post. Now, you get what we are talking about here.

I never said I called an Indian a "Black ghost" and I got called a moron. Thx for reading what I originally posted and completely missing my point...

BTW... I don't care if someone calls me a China man, because I AM a china man(literally speaking). If they do mean ill will, then that is their problem. If they don't, good for them. As long as they don't kill me i'm fine with that.

i'm chinese, and i've heard my mum say that phrase too. i always thought it was racist, but i think it's a phrase that stuck, since they used the same phrase back in the days.

i don't think they meant anything offensive; it's just generalization.

Racism is a daily thing you can`t avoid it no matter what and who you are, mostly done due to culture and/or not knowing that it might be wrong what you think/do.

no, it's just a name, generalizing "black" people!

which of the chinese languages was this in, specifically? because i speak teo chew, and that's what i've learned. translating it directly to english would mean black ghost, but it's just a phrase to call them ><

It's useless to discuss racial remarks here, because most people are more concerned about pwning the other person, then to get theire points across.

The moment discussions are no longer about pointing fingers and feeling ashamed about having made a n00b post...

Then come and call me,and i will bring cake candy and flowers to all!

not saying the name sound wrong but the way he use it...

if I saw a black guy at my shop buying a Beer and I say ''This negro drink beer too?'' it sound like he shouldn't or black people are not allowed.... or just mean...

or even just this black guy, cause it say Black as a distinction, and seem like the reason why I'm so suprise that he buy the beer.

clearance and me Live in the same country so i might just explain WTF malaysia is.

There is no place in the world like malaysia, where 3 races and 100more small races live togather in harmony :)

Behind the mask :(
there's racism.

13th may 1969 is fck up! Guess what 69
:P
Racial fights. Country is in horror :(

so we realize that racial fights can torn down our country.Well, its not easy for 3 races to unified under one country coz racism is among us untill today.

i conclude that racism in our country is everywhere. Coz 100over races fked up in one strong govern'd country.

Btw im hybrid-chinese but WooT!!! I LOVE INDIAN GIRLS :D
-i have never practiced racism-

1st of all that's a Malaysian not Chinese...(different nationality)...
and If you have lived long enough in Malaysia you should know they refer alot of races as "ghosts", samething as they call caucasian "old ghost" . I do admit it's not respectful, but it's the way they speak to each other...

more like "devil" not "ghost"...

Wrong, wrong, wrong. Different sources vary slightly, but all agree that Mandarin tops the list hands-down. Don't try to advocate racial superiority, especially with misleading information.

Ive traveled a LOT.. And I gotta say, Mumbai was one of the nicest places I have ever been in all my travels. The ppl there were so nice. And not only was I a minority, I was only one of about 5 white ppl I saw the entire time I was in India. I was there for a month.

I miss real Chai tea, real dahl... and kulfee. (not sure if I spelled it right)
