It's shamefull really, even today i saw a couple of thiefs popping a one star trader, and even though the trader was level 24,he still got killed,by high level thiefs.

While all this is happening i'm sitting in the grass watching and thinking to myself:,that poor little trader,he probably spend all his money making that trade, and for all we know he wanted to become a trader since his level 1 debute.

He achieved level 20,reads something on some particulair forum, and decides to level up until 24 before attempting a trade run.

He buys all the stuff needed for a trade run,and proudly sets out on the wide open road of the silkroad,he's thinking:

Now that i'm a one star trader, player thiefs can't attack me,and so a little more assured he sets out on his run,and he encounters higher leveled thiefs, now i'm thinking to myself: what are the chances of those thiefs letting that 1 star amature trader go by?

Nada.

Because when you're at a higher level,it's always fun to pick on the little ones,it's a thing of nature, and were desperate to justify that feeling by defending that with smart and witty comments, because who ever ''smarts the funniest'' is the winner.

But don't get me wrong on this one,i popped a 1 star trade myself many times, neither am i talking shit about people that DO 1 star popping on a daily basis. (Mind you)

But if theire were more higher leveled traders around,i would attack them, but i would make up a better strategy,or form a party of thiefs, and then make a move.

Personally i find much more satisfaction in organising a group of player thiefs, using informants, and undercover thiefs, planning ambush srategies, and other forms of mass ownage.

If done on a greater scale, the prize is well worth the effort. 8)

That sounds really fun but you forgot about the whole group sitting for 2 hours because no one took 2*.

Yes it is sad, and a hardship on poor trader.

Lets turn that around.

On a level 20 - 24 thief who wanted to be thief since he was level 1.

Theres nothing for him to rob. Theres no multistars his level. All day long (about every 5 minutes or so) he gets 1-shotted by a level 70 hunter. All he wanted to do was do jobs and have fun too. Especially fustrating when the same hunter finds you multiple times, or someone resses you and they 1 shot you when you stand back up. Higher level thief won't help you or share loot, because we are greedy and those nub tiefs are pesks.

You ask your guild for help, but the 64+ grinding away in a spot that took 20 minutes to find, burning up ticket time sees your message and things "meh who cares"

Yeah, that's the other side of the story i agree, but that doesn't happen all the time, nor does that happen with everyone :)

One star popping is beeing carried out,by exploiting a bug during a trade run, where you pop you're higher leveled npc thiefs on another trader, who's much lower then you..therefore killing him and stealing his hard earned trading goods,so i think that one star popping is not something to be proud off,but when in lack of a good multi star it becomes something of a ''Last resort''

But i think it's pushing it overboard, when it becomes something natural..don't forget the keyword: ''Exploiting''

More traders attempting a multi star, would require more hunters, thus the hunter job would also become more appealing,as does the job of a trader..and as for the thief, they know they can't accomplish anything alone,so thiefs would also be teaming up.

That way everyone gains something of value. :)

People still do multistars all the time, I know because I've robbed them.

Things to remember;
1. jobbing of any kind is not a guarantee of success (hunter, thief or trader).
2. you'll earn more gold grinding than trading
3. popping has not been removed from the game, despite being around for more than a year, therefore it can be surmised that it's allowable.
4. People have the right to play the game how THEY want to, not how YOU want them to.
5. There are much worse things than popping, like taking off your job suit to make someone using mercs in a suit murderer.
6. In your 20's a 1 star is like 15k. I'm not going to bother talking about loss of exp because you get it back in 15 min of grinding and you have the chioce of terminating your transport and running.

While I won't allow it in my guild I don't care if others do, its a part of the game.

Well, I don't like 1* popper myself. I got popped so many times since level 20. Level up will for sure help to reduce the chance of being popped. But even when I was at level 60, I still got popped by a level 70~ >_<

So, my suggestion is:

1) don't do 1* unless you are near the cap (i.e. may be just a few level lower than cap, so popper's npc is still orange to you) or you are willing to take the risk of being popped.

2) if you want to trade, do 5* in guild trade run or union trade run. Success rate is a lot higher and more gold.

Okay fair enough, now let me elaborate on that. :)

1.I agree on the fact that all jobs have theire risks, without risks there would be zero entertainment.

2.Agreed

3.That's not something i could agree on,we all know joymax isn't the fastest or the smartest when it comes to:''Doing the right thing,or because it's the right thing to do'' one star popping puts the trader at an unfair disadvantage, that has nothing to do with the skills, the level,or the weapon of the attacker. (in this case the playerthief)

4.I'm never pointing fingers, nor am i accusing people.( i can't accuse people since i did it myself) but there's nothing wrong with expressing one's own opinion. :)

5.That's indeed a dirty trick.(but it's also another thing) :)

6.I can't quite follow you on that, abandoning you're trading horse or camel at lower levels means almost always a certain financial disaster at lower levels,so i don't really see that happening to often.

A job is all about risks and rewards, about punishment, skills, and cunning,it does not include spawning you're level 53 npc thiefs on a defenceless 23 leveled trader, and claiming it's a part of the game,or that it took''effort for the player thief to pull off.

Here's my idea for a new trading system:

NPC Thieves

Simple. NPC thieves spawning from a player thief transport will be replaced with hunter NPC's that are of equal level.

Make use of the job level system

Level 1 traders will be like players that are lvl 1-19, they cannot be touched by player thieves. A level 1 trader is only permitted to a 1 star trade run. This would allow a new level 20 trade to complete a handful of successful traderuns, but he would have to manage them so he doesn't level up his trader level too fast.

Level 2 traders will be required to take a 2 star trade run or above. However, there would be a level range in which player thieves would be allowed to attack. It would run in tiers of degree much like the equipment. Players in lower tier could attack, but players in higher tier could not. Example:

A level 32 player is now a level 2 trader and embarks on his first 2 star trade run. A level 31 thief tries to rob him, but fails and dies from the trader. Later on, a level 41 thief (still in 5th degree remember) shows up and robs him. A level 42 thief would not be able to attack due to being at a higher degree.

Level 3 traders would be required to take a 2 star trade or above, but they would be open to attacks from all levels.

Level 4 traders would be required to take a 3 star or above.
Level 5 traders would be required to take a 4 star or above.

It would probably need some more ideas/modifications but it's a system that I could see working. One modification the game would need is the Job XP System. A successful trade run would be the only way to raise your Trader XP. You can not lose trader XP to delevel your Trader Level. This keeps people from having thief friends kill them over and over to delevel to level 1 trader.

Thieving would not delevel trader XP, only hunter XP.
Hunting would only delevel thief XP.

Just some ideas that could work...

Joymax released a news post saying that NPC's are part of the 'Triangular conflict system' and the 'only way to ensure safer trade is to bring hunters'

During the time of the 1* popper thread war.

Since that day I dismissed the idea it was any kind of 'exploit' and just 'did' it.

That's true Ryoko, but then they kind of contradicted themselves by announcing a big job update (for Korea) that would replace NPC thieves with NPC hunters for player thieves.

@XuChu it's actually allot shorter:

1. low lvlers get pissed because they get popped
2. they lvl like madmen to "take revenge on the evil poppers"
3. around lvl 40-50 they start popping
(back to 1.)

@Ryoko haha mob connection (it's all about networking :D )

@SP *sigh* I almost believed the SRF-swine made a honest post... (paleeze remoofe bannor timtom)

So what are the chances of that coming to ou're silkroad?

One star popping is something i personally can handle while on a trade, but then again i'm almost level 47.

I guess it's more of a personal choice to for each player to make on his own.

But i'm curious to find out what joymax has in store for us.. :)

FOR ALL 1* POPPER, HATERS :

A lesson on 1* popping :

First, get one person to get a 2* trade.
Get another thief from your group to kill the horse, but not the trader.

The thieves should then steal the items making sure everyone has something.

Then the trader removes the card and relogs (logs out then in). Then pute on the thief suit. Or you could just wait 10 minutes.

Now that everybody has something, thieves should spawn.

Now, your set to pop, pop, pop away!

Just find some 1* traders, wait for your thieves to kill them and steal; their items.

This has always worked for me and here is the end result :

Or you could just use the good'ol method of looking for dropped items, but seriously.. Where is the fun in that?

Isn't that the more time demanding way to PoP someone?

And when you say: for all one star popper haters,i was hoping you would contribute something usefull..

Not to be rude, but what you're making clear with those screenshots,is something we already know. :)

Actually.. If you look closely, and have read the whole thread...

It was my guild mate who started this thread, and we were doing this today to show other people how not to let it happen. If you see 6 theives coming towards you.. what do you do? Not just stand there like that retard did.

BTW, later that day 8 people from my union went 1* theif popping.

Loads of traders with 1* killing theives who had loot, then calling our theif friends to get the loot. That was fun.

And that post was mainly for fun, to see how many people flamed it in 10 minutes.

Im surprised it was onyl one.. I was expecting at least 3.

I see what you're saying, and i know theire are many ways to prevent one star popping,or cause one star popping. :)

And i'm sorry if you took my post in a ''Flaming way'' since flaming doesn't contribute anything usefull for me. (Lol the only people i flame are SP and Khang, but they had it coming though)

On the other hand,my days of one star popping are now over, since the last time i popped someone,he cursed me into oblivion.

Well at any rate,i wonder what joymax would do when that update comes out..does anyone know whether we would get that hunter update or not?
