There are alot of opinions about how to fix silkroad but the reality is that the only way to fix Isro is by intervention from Joymax, period. The community can not fix itself because the community as a whole reacts based upon what it's allowed to do. No way has a 100% success rate but some of this will cut out a large portion.
1. OPERATION REDUCE GOLD BOTS ( first step ) All they have to do are weekly gold bot bans and reduce the amount of sign ups per day. AND THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR IS TO TURN ON AND UPDATE GAME GUARD!!!!. It has not been updated since 2006 and would force people to use GG bypasses.
2. HOW TO REDUCE PLAYER BOTS ( too easy ) WHETHER YOU WANT TO ADMIT IT OR NOT BUT MAJORITY OF THE PLAYERS, INCLUDING THE PEOPLE IN THIS OR ANY FORUM BOT OR INTERACT WITH SOME SORT OF "ILLEGAL" ACTIVITY. JUST ACCEPT IT AND MOVE ON. Also, the keyword is "MAJORITY", so if you are among the few, more power to you!
First Joymax should post a warning via Globals and on the website after an inspection stating that any player bot found botting will receive a week ban after the next inspection. Then after the first warning ban, next inspection they would ban people for 100 years. This not only will make it less appealing to bot but it will ONCE AGAIN scare people. Which is Joymax's true tool for power. And then of course REAL weekly bans followed consistantly.
3. COMBINE THE SERVERS ( after the smoke has cleared ) There are too many servers for the real ammount of players currently playing. I would suggest 5-10 servers ONLY and give people the chance to pick and choose their server ONLY if they are currently in an older server. Newer servers will be combined into designated younger servers.
But what about the name issue? Everyone will have to choose a new id name and to make up for the trouble give a really good event like 100% exp increase for a week with increased drop rates.
4. GMs To add to the "scare" factor, all Joymax has to do is hire some active GMs to do random bans in hot spots. Examples of hot spots would be in a Cave, Wing Tribe, Chi' an tomb, and etc. And since the amount of servers would have been reduced, it would be much easier to manage.
5. CREATE LIMIT IN WHICH SOME ONE CAN GAIN EXP IN AN AUTOSHARE PARTY An example of this would be to not allow some one to gain exp if they are 20 levels higher or lower then the party leader. This will KILL majority of the power level once and for all. Only way this would not apply to would be during jobbing exp.
~~ added
So, if I am level 20 and my party leader is level 40, I will get normal exp because the gap is only 20 levels. But if my leader joins some one who is level 60, everyone below level 40 get a reduced amount of exp because the gap is larger than 20.
Discuss!

learn to read! You are never going to party 20 levels higher mob, you could possible do that, but it is pointless.

lol you didn't read it either. He said that if you were 20 levels below/above the party leader you wouldn't gain exp.

Lol, apparently they didn't.
Example, If I am level 70 anybody that is level 60-70 or level 70-90 WILL gain exp. Anybody below level 60 or higher than 90 will get NO EXP!
What this does is, at ongs for example, only people that can power level noobs at ongs can be 20 levels about the party leader's level. And to further reduce powerlevel, they could do 10 levels above or below the leader's level.

Don't you think it's obvious that he actually thinks that if you were 20 levels below/above any of the party member

i think 20 levels is better... because in party play the clerics are mostly lower level.

Making it 20 levels below/above any party member would make it easier to exploit the system.
Making it 20 levels below/above party LEADER can still be exploited in that say a party leader is level 40 power leveling lvl 20 noobs could easily invite a level 60 person to level up the level 20 noobs. But even then, you could easily GIVE A BIGGER REDUCTION OF EXP WHEN THE GAP BETWEEN THE LOWEST AND HIGHEST MEMBER OF THE PARTY IS LARGER.
So, if I am level 20 and my party leader is level 40, I will get normal exp because the gap is only 20 levels. But if my leader joins some one who is level 60, everyone below level 40 get a reduced amount of exp because the gap is larger than 20.

You are wrong and right with both.
Wrong @ goes broke. The first initial week is simply a way to give everyone a fair warning that this time is serious and that after the 1st week you will be banned for real.
Temporary ban makes people not only pissed but less willing to bot if they risk their main characters a 100 year ban.
Wrong @ crowded servers. Considering there are only a few hundred real players in each server in our current version, the servers would not be full with 5-10 servers. Go to any other version that has minimum bots, their servers are always on easy because their population is adjusted to the amount of real players in the actual game.
And you are correct with a possible crowded server and wrong once again about being broke. YOU DO REALIZE THAT THE MORE REAL PLAYERS THAT YOU HAVE IN A GAME, AND THE MORE EVENTS, FUN, AND INTERACTION YOU GIVE TO THE COMMUNITY, THE MORE LIKELY THE COMMUNITY WILL PUT IN MORE MONEY INTO THE GAME.
If you honestly think Joymax sells more item mall items with 90%+ gold bot filled servers rather then 90% filled with paying customers, then I do not know what to tell you.

Ok... Lets take this a step further. So they do a one week ban to all player bots. Majority of them will not like that and they will quit. Do you really think banning them will make them want to come back clean? As it currently goes bots are majority and 90% of them pay to play. As for legits about 25% of them pay regularly and another 25% have payed for silk once or twice. 2.5% of legit players that pay silk regularly over and 2.5% that may pay once in a blue moon over 90% of players that pay for silk on a monthly basis? If I ran a company I would take the 90%, they make me more money. No bot will care about their level 100 character if they can't bot it to get the sp and the sun. They will chargeback, quit and pay for something else thats cheaper per month, and easier to get capped it.
@Blindside: Most of what I said is explained above. The only people left would be the people that wont pay. They wont spend money, they will always keep complaining and come to the forums making threads of: "How to login", "Need less goldbots" "I Quit" etc...

If you have ever played Counter-strike source or Cod4 on PC, there is NO possible way to stop hacks(bots in this case). Game Guard wont stop people for long. Vac and Punkbuster is always being updated but a new hack is made everyday.

Make SRO for xbox 360 on xbox live = problem solved. Can't play on live with modded xbox. Better than GG.

about #5. imo, they could just implement a system which distributes exp according to the lvl of the party members. i mean, the higher your lvl, the higher your share of exp. so even if a lvl 90 starts "plvling" a lvl 40 on penons, the lvl 40 will get low exp (cuz the exp is being distributed by lvl). aside from the fact that killing lower lvl mobs will get you lower exp, the lvl 90 wont get almost anything, and the lvl 40 will get so low exp that grinding alone would be faster.
now u would say.. oh shit, so euro's wont be able to party. no, that wouldn't be the case cuz euro's tend to party with people around their lvl, so the share of each member would be around the same.

people keep coming up with long winded and complicated solutions to the problems in sro.
the solution is as simple as active Game Masters doing their jobs.
but as long as people continue to pay 30+ dollars a month for this game service as it currently exists then joymax will continue to have no motivation at all to invest time and resources into improving anything.
it is just common sense. capitalism is the dominating factor here. you will not get a corporations attention until you significantly affect their profit margin.
i am fairly sure that this free2play game has a higher profit margin than most pay2play games.

Couldn't be more wrong. Ixtreme 1.5 allows you to flash your xbox360's dvd drive to play burned xbox360 games online without getting banned. Although this is not cheating in game, it's cheating to get games for free.

perhaps goldbot company will suffer more if BLUE mobs will drop nothing for them. if it is less lucrative, they will either fold or force gold prices to go up and less players will buy them.
if blue mobs drop nothing, goldbots will then work on green ones, which gives a real player a better chance of getting the kill than getting KS by goldbots that are >6levels higher than the mobs, and better chance of goldbots getting killed by mobs (compared to blue mobs). so in order for the goldbots to hunt and survive better than real players, they will need to keep and use good gears (rather than selling them and making $$$ out from them), which again will make gold supply smaller and slower and gold price will increase further, ie. less players will buy gold.
