Man have you read the post "Undercover gm" ?
They don't have banning ability, What they do is check to see who's botting
or if a bot claim is true, Then they tell the korean office to ban them.

GM Quiz (well, done by system) in Hero Online:
Image

Haven't played longer to see if they change.

In Runescape they are called "Randoms" and they F%&$@ING SUCK. They can range from you having to simple "talk" to the NPC or you having to stop what you are doing and answer a riddle, or worse of all, you are warped to a new area and have to perform a task.

Silkroad doesn't have any of the "is the user there" functionalities, thank goodness. How would you feel if u were given a few minutes to answer a question while trying to tank Yarkan?

While a lot of people bitch about SRO, it's GMs, and JM, I have yet to see another game, F2P that is on the same level. I haven't seen any game that has come even close yet. Don't believe me? Try playing other free MMORPGS and really look at the two (especially in their forums at the problems).

In my opinion Joymax never anticipated International silkroad becoming this large. That's probably why they've had that recruiting ad up for a while. Although the office in San Jose is open they are still highly under-staffed, Having only about 5 employes.

My opinion why they seem to never do anything.

Runescape's customer service blows JM out of the water. Sky high. For the f2p version.

EDIT: Oh yeah, there are quests that actually involve non-grinding activities, OMFG!!!!!!!!!!! IN FACT, LIKE ALL OF THE QUESTS INVOLVE NOT GRINDING!!! YESS!!!!!!!!

I'd play Runescape over SRO if you aren't that big on PVPing. Everybody pk's in RS, but it just can't compare to pking in SRO. But there are like 20 diff skills to get to 99...
And yes the quests don't involve grinding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111111

I wouldn't count on ladyasiana to specifically remove botter(s) from the server. Think of ladyasiana as the eyes and ears of iSRO. They'll only rely what's the knots and problems to the main office in Seoul Office in Korea. Joymax has only so much attention to go through. I do agree they're under-staffed right now, especially in San Jose. We truly don't know how strong staffed they are. Remember, the stability of the game is the stability of the staff. As for ladyasiana, they're just problem seekers. The real concerns of what's going on is Joymax Office in Korea that makes the decision of booting people. We don't have the luxury of saying, "Someone in the caves is botting, please investigate it and boot them."

Just be thankful they're investigating in to areas where it may concern or not. We don't know what their true intentions are, so no point in bluntly assuming something when it could be easily turned around.

Also, be glad that at least a Joymax staff member is interacting with us (players) whereas the other GM's don't.

Also, a GM in my perspective is/could be someone who moderates the two (Company and User) with each comprehensive standards that the GM relies what's happening with the Company in the manner of gameplay and/or simply create a stable presence to the players that they're doing their best in some category that worries players. Of course, they do it in a slow process, because it could be various things. We'd never know unless we were directly linked with the Joymax staff in Seoul. Other than that, GM's are just helpful guides for us to interact with (lack of). I could be wrong in a lot of areas in this or just blind-sided. Might as well input some thought in to this thread. Since you asked for some type of valid understanding to what the purpose is for a GM.

I concur with Magetsu_! ... Or you could simply skip whatever I had to say and go, "Uh huh," then pretend to know exactly what I said!

The purpose of GM is to log on to game from time to time, talk stupid things, so people would buy global chats and talk shit, the shit part doesnt matter tho, they only want money. And they dont do anything, so you would use more globals when they log on. Yes it's a rather diabolic plan of gaining money for nukes.

I wonder if she noticed that Takla Makan has no music, I quite liked the TM music but you get the Karakoram music once and then nothing at all.

Why do you feel it nessicary to attack GMs because they can't monitor over a thousand people in one instance. It isn't like they are monitoring our processes like they do with Warden for WoW. Would you like them to do that instead and if you have so much as a auto-it macro in the background running you'll get banned? Just don't worry about their function and play the game, ignore botters as eventually they will get banned as long as you keep reporting them.

It is inevitable that they will eventually change the security and there will be no botters or anything of the such (for a little while). It isn't like it is going to stop all KSers and cheaters, there will always be ways to bypass the security system and they will patch it... but for now just shut up.

I wouldn't bother, it's pointless to tell the whiners and complainers that it's pointless to bicker about it. In fact, it was pointless of me posting this reply.

can GM ban players while the GM is online?
or do they have to do it with inspections?

I'd only assume that they would need to go through a "Verification" process, for reasons that are entrusted to the GM, his/her power is quite limited in a corporation. CEO made guidelines or follow-ups for the GM's to follow and tread as neatly as possible.

As I said, they'd probably need some sort of permission before they can do any action that may be relevant to removing a player off the server or simply giving a warning. GM's are just moderators following the Administrative rule(s).

I've heard a GM was seen in Takla on Athens, within close range of very obvious bots, yet did nothing but log off after a bit.

My hope is there's something in the works behind the scenes. With a mass ban in the future. Even if they only get a small % of the high lvl bots, it'll put the fear back into them, which is what they need. It's been blatantly obvious for far too long.
