So yeah, I started to play SRO again after a couple of months. I started ZSZC again, changed the graphics settings and I got some weird stuff going on here. Then I tried iSRO, and there I had the same problems. The first bug has something to do with the textures I believe. Sometimes armour just becomes seethrough, and the edges become thick and black. But it gets even worse when I turn the bloom effect on. The whole screen, except the UI, becomes plain black. But when I turn it off, it turns back to 'normal' (still with the 'seetrough' thingy) I upgraded from an Radeon HD4890(which ran SRO perfectly) to a HD6950 recently, so maybe it could be a driver related problem. I installed the latest drivers from AMD though. I'll add some pics to explain the problem better : This is with bloom turned OFF. Note the transparent armours. And here I've got bloom turned ON. Note: it seems like the pics wont show up on the site (at least in google Chrome), you have to right-click it and then open up the pic in a new tab. So what do you guys think? I really want to be able to turn bloom on again!

I got the latest AMD drivers and no graphical bugs, unless it's with 6xxx series only. Anywaym best suggestion I can give you is to completely uninstall SRO, run a program named TuneUp Utilities> 1 Click Maintenance. This should clear any "leftover" files and reg keys that may be affecting your game. Reinstall after of course and see if it helps.

Did you completely uninstall your old graphics drivers?
It is probably because the 6950 is new and needs time to optimize. plus SRO is an old game.

Depending on which company you invested in and what price you actually payed for the card. Note that you get what you pay for.
Quality performance cards so far are the 4870 & 6970. Getting something like the 4890 or 4850 cards are usually knock off brands with much lower performance. Paying $90 dollars for the cards is not as good as paying $$290+ for a video card.
SRO can only max at 30-45FPS anyways. poor graphics engine. 1024x768 sounds like a really low resolution, please tell us your not still using those windows 98 monitors with the backs. We already into HD 3D monitors.
btw i run a HIS Super Cooled HD6970X2 Crossfire with SRO 1920x1080 and no problems.

I unlocked 'n overclocked it, but that can't be the prob because I checked it. I paid €260,- for it. I'm not new in the hardware 'world'. 1280x1024 is the maximum resolution the ZSZC client can handle ATM. I've got an 1920x1080 monitor. (btw 3d sux) Quote: btw i run a HIS Super Cooled HD6970X2 Crossfire tcm

btw i run a HIS Super Cooled HD6970X2 Crossfire with SRO 1920x1080 and no problems. 4890 knock off brand? huh? the 4890 is better then the 4870.... With AMD (No longer ATI) the first number is the generation, Second is a performance tier (7 is basic as 8 is performance ect.), third is the second tier (30<50<80 ect) There is no "off brand" AMD makes the "reference card" and companies like XFX, MSI, and so on. Use that card to make their own version be it just a different fan or a new pcb, 30-45 fps max? I get like 200. Maybe with bloom and detailed shadows but there is no max of 30-45. tl;dr 4870 and 6970 are not the only "performance" cards and 4890 isn't an off brand with less performance. Then 30-45 fps. lul

Please dude don't jump in if you have no idea on what your talking about. Why don't you send us some graphicial proof of your 200 FPS. Make sure it isn't 800x600 resolutions cause thats pathetic.
The 4870 could overthrow the 4890 depending on the specs and price you payed, just because it's got a higher number doesn't mean it's always better. Read the fine print.

Not quite the 200, but your statement of the 40fps cap is BS

Lmao I didn't even have to post proof. the 4890 is basically a redesigned 4870. http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon-hd ... iew-test/8 read this and keep talking. Sure if you have a 4ghz i7 with a 4870 vs a 2ghz dual core with a 4890 the 4870 would win. but I will post a screen shot when I get on my desktop EDIT: Total frames vary from place to place and I have made some "Power saving" So my computer is no longer overclocked and is in a smaller case. (Just saying this so you don't go "OMG YOU LIAR!" as the variables are not the same when I used to play sro.) However if I try I can still get 200 This Kinda blows that 40FPS max out of the water by 10 HOWEVER I do admit if you have detailed shadows and bloom on your system will not get as many frames as you could without those on. And no this isn't a small res it's 1920x1080 Photobucket likes to resize. I could upload a folder if you wish to see the full sized pictures.

You obvoiusly didn't read my post correctly.... "Depending" on which version of the cards you get the 4870 could overthrow the 4890. Let's put it more simple picking up a cheap shit 40 dollar 4890 with no fan attached to it compared to a 4870 with a better core and appropriate cooling it WOULD overthrow the cheap shit. Which is what i stated to the op. http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentatio ... 3&sgid=567Which comes back to my first post about "You get what you pay for". I guess everyone plays on low graphics some still with square monitors point proven that yes you can gain 200fps in an empty cave and yes you can gain with low graphics and away from people/battles. Must just be me that still stays at 35-40 fps in battles and fortress war. Doesn't get higher nor any lower. Try a medium graphics in/around battle the game is struggling and not even asking for power from the graphics card.

Taking screenshots in empty spots or facing the ground with all settings turned down and most effects off won't change the fast that SRO's engine sucks.

Oh ok, I guess picking the only screenshot that had any fps counter at all wont work. Next time I'm in ctf, I'll take it when people are actually fighting, I usually get at least 80 at those times still anyways.

If you get an overclock 4870 sure maybe you could get the performance of a 4890 but then the 4890 could be overclocked and no longer equal and lmao that's high graphics only detailed shadows and bloom off. like I said those tax that system a lot. I proved you wrong there is no max of 30-45. Now you change it up? Now it's only in the middle of battles? You have 2 6970s and you are on medium graphics? dah fack? I have a 9800GTX+ and I run everything on high/max. What's your CPU? I agree SRO is badly coded and taxes the system more then it should. I proved you wrong about the max fps. The whole 4870 vs 4890 kinda pointless because the 4890 is the better card. If it was like 5770 vs 4870 that's understandable but no. The 4890 is the more expensive and better card then the 4870.

Dude seriously if i can leave my sro client running and run crisis 2 & Bad company 2 on and still have no frame drop in either of those games then sro is fked up.
i've watched the load on my VGA card and it just tickles it compared to other games like aion that run perfectly.
As for specs
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 950 @ 3.07GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.1GHz Watercooled* Memory: 12288MB RAM Hard Drive: 960 GB Total Video Card: MSI R6970-2PM2D2GD5 Radeon HD 6970 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP X2 Crossfire Monitor: LG W2363D Black 23" 3ms Full HD 120Hz 3D WideScreen LCD Monitor 400 cd/m2 70,000:1 Sound Card: Speakers (SoundMAX HD Powered by Creative SB Hi-FI PCI-E) Speakers/Headphones: Roccat Kave Keyboard: Logitech G15 Mouse: Logitech G9 Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_gdr.101026-1503) Motherboard: ASUS RAMPAGE II by Republic of Gamers Computer Case: Cooler Master
My computer leaves many in the dust...
As for the max on 35-45 yes it just hangs there regardless of in battles or not i've never tested it on low too fugly.

If sro hangs for you try turning off crossfire. A lot of times that causes issues for older games.

Ok guys I found the solution to my problem: I played a bit with my Catalyst Antialiasing settings, and once I set the AA from Override application settings (24xEQ-Edge detect) to Enhance application settings (12xEQ-Edge detect) the bloom flipped suddenly on. I hope I can help other people as well with this post.
Edit: typo
