I have thought of the action of suicide. I have thought of what it would take to drive man, Human, to end oneself. I have thought of the overwhelming turmoil one must go through before the action. I have grasped it and let go. It was a fleeting thought, nothing more. I dread the day I start thinking like a Stoic Philosopher again. Oh how I dread that day. Though, I don't think I have ever actually wanted to commit suicide. There were times when I wished I didn't exist or wondered how my presence affected those around me but to take ones life. I don't fear it, no I don't fear it. There are things I fear in this world but death is not among them. Maybe suicide will be on my "to do list" after college*
*A little joke about the economy.

once, but the prospect of seeing family torn apart by a suicide is something no one wants.
if you really want to get yourself killed, do it by doing something useful, like joining the army or working for blackwater.

17, mom dies of cancer, 12months of watching her suffer, dad nowhere in sight, only person i ever cared about gone....
death seemed like a good option...but i'd be a huge hypocrite and a man can't die breaking his own code, he'd never find peace

Suicide? That's a terrible way go down. Why not join the army? Or take a bullet for someone you love? Don't take your own life when it could save someone else's life.

Some times. Tasdik wrote: Suicide? That's a terrible way go down. Why not join the army? Or take a bullet for someone you love? Don't take your own life when it could save someone else's life. Thinking somewhat like this made me not do it. Why not doing something good in death if life isn't as good as we'd want?

It must be truly terrifying but if you don't exist how could you feel it. How would one know its over after its over. Would there be feeling or would there just be nothing. Oi, I better stop.

Nope, my life isn't that bad. Tasdik wrote: Suicide? That's a terrible way go down. Why not join the army? Or take a bullet for someone you love? Don't take your own life when it could save someone else's life. Would be a better option if anything along this line.

So you get into a cycle without a true answer. This, not taking any religion perspective into opinion ofc

A suicidal soldier is not something wanted on the battle field, having a loved one know your killed yourself on purpose will not make them happier even if ti saved them, concerning others with their death is what that Virginia tech kid and those columbine kids did. Suicide is a path that should be taken alone, 9/10 its a selfish act anyway so don't make it worse by making it a public act or involving other people....these things tend to leave impressions long after the person commits.... @barotix non-existentence is only terrifying for those who are in love with existing...the non-existent person wouldn't care if they were non-existent seeing as they'd be...non-existent and the person who has come to terms with this world would welcome closure with open arms.

I'd love to be able to see how's the world after i'd die (i mean of course my family and people i've had contact with) but as i don't believe in any kind of afterlife i know i'll be always with that question in my mind.

That means the whole thing would change, therefore you wouldnt value existing? Therefore it'd have no meaning? It'd be just like if a baby was born. But into another place (you can call it so many stuff, but once again, not taking any religional perspective into opinion)

Indeed that's another valid argument, you see, the contradiction between the both of them is what made me think suicide wouldn't be good one way or another, therefore i didn't do it.

I had a long time ago. But I focused myself and thought something good might happen if I still live. Tasdik wrote: Suicide? That's a terrible way go down. Why not join the army? Or take a bullet for someone you love? Don't take your own life when it could save someone else's life. good idea mate

Once upon a time...Was it because my mind was failing? I was working at my dad's grocery store and was the 'closing manager'. It was terrible, a terror to me. The task was simple. Lock the doors, sweep the floor and turn off the lights. Have you ever experienced a time where things that always make sense didn't? That was me. I called my mom and told her (she was a nurse), saying, "Mom? I'm supposed to close the store but I can't figure out if I should close the doors or turn out the lights or sweep first..." It wasn't really a timid voice but I was reassured when she replied, "Don't worry, I'll come right down to get you."That's all that I needed, something to take the responsibility and stress off of me and it wasn't long before my *duh ~~> smacks forehead* moment came and I figured it all out. Still, something was wrong. Wrong with ME. It continued. Subtle at first. Tossing and turning on my bed didn't seem to help but my mind could find no rest. It was like I was turning on my own self and not getting any sleep didn't help. Suicidal ideation. Good term, right? So I went to the next step. You know the one. My mind wasn't me but it was me, the only me I knew, and it wasn't gonna stop attacking me. To my twisted state it seemed like one solution would be to end it so... I went to the next step and started to plan how to go about it. I didn't own any guns and hate taking medicine so I figured that the 'best' way would be to take a fireplace poker and set it up against the wall so that I could run into it and impale myself on it. The horror of my thought worked well enough and when I fixed it in my mind that this was the 'best' way, I'd pretty much talked myself out of it. Time passed and it wasn't long before the torment that I felt subsided. I came away from the experience with the understanding that I and my mind are not the same things. My brain isn't me. Much of my identity is tied up in knowledge and thoughts but that's not stable and simply put isn't me. Years and years later while speaking to a psychiatrist about my son she asked, "Have you ever thought about suicide?" She was taking background information and my reply was, "No, not really." I'm still confused though was that me who lied to her or was that my mind? ~Grandpa

Personally, I'm glad we can't tell what's on the other side. Sure I'm curious, but I have the same thoughts about it as aged wine.
Death can wait. I'd rather just keep walking before I have to take the final detour.
