Among the hordes of Warcraft fans clamoring for a feature film set in Azeroth? Then don’t plan any big dinner parties for Friday, December 18, 2015.

That’s the date Legendary Pictures and Blizzard Entertainment have pegged for the release of "Warcraft," a joint production based on the massive online game.

Described as “an epic adventure of world-colliding conflict,” the movie is being directed by Duncan Jones (“Moon”) and is being co-written by Jones and Charles Leavitt (“K-PAX,” “Blood Diamond”). Blizzard VP of story and franchise development Chris Metzen will serve as a co-producer to make sure everything is legit.

The movie is supposed to start filming in 2014, though the cast has yet to be announced. Rumors point to the likes of Colin Farrell, Paula Patton, and Paul Dano, but nothing’s been confirmed. It’s been a stop-and-go affair for the WarCraft film, which initially was to be helmed by Sam Raimi, who left the project to work on Oz: The Great and Powerful.

While thirst for the film remains great among fans, Blizzard has watched its playerbase deteriorate since it was first announced in 2006. In July the company announced that World of Warcraft subscriptions had dipped to 7.7 million, its lowest number since 2007.

More news about the film could be revealed at the BlizzCon convention in early November.

Any Thoughts? lulz

Lawl, its gonna suck and be nothing like the game.

Someones already sitting around, someone who has never nor will play the game, and thinking "this would be cool to do this or that" and its gonna be put in, or something changed. It's gonna be made for the masses and presented to fans.

I've stopped following the warcraft story since warcraft 3, but until then it was one of the best video game scenarios I've ever played, the cutscenes were more epic than other whole movies, if they keep this quality, it will be an all time top movie.

Neve3r played it myself, but I think with the exception of Mortal Kombat, there's probably never been a movie to game/game to movie that didn't suck balls.

This.

There was this not at all attractive girl in college that invited me over to her dorm room. . .

She wanted me to try world of warcraft. . . I thought I was going to get some that night since she wasn't good looking and probably hadn't had any in a year(at least she wasn't fat)

I tried it and got annoyed with it in five minutes and she decided against letting me stay over the rest of the night.

I never understood how people could like Silkroad but now WoW. Blows my mind.

Also I probably won't be seeing this movie until it's on Netflix or RedBox. Too many sweaty neckbeards in one theater sounds terrible.

I agree the cartoony feel was sort of off putting, but the gameplay made up for it easily.
