soo got 3 courses im interested in, computing, computer science and computer systems and networks.

Not sure what to pick but i gather there are similar courses in other unis across the world so curious what others have to say, i get to choose any tech/engineering based course so could do robotics if i wanted thanks to a foundation year im doing originally i wanted networking as becoming a network specialist sounds fun, but i had to do programming on my foundation year and im enjoying it, so thought about computing nd computer science. computer science is top of the charts atm but hey either way i get a free ipad xD

I had a similar choice in the past.
I decided to go with networking and security and I start college in the spring for it.
I originally wanted to just wanted to work with hardware, most of the jobs don't pay well and everything is becoming integrated [tablets, laptops vs desktop] so I assume it would be difficult to find a job in the future.

A lot of the networking jobs are easy, some are difficult. That really depends on where you work, though.
It's usually an easy job until somebody comes along and nukes the company's server you manage.

I'm not necessarily pursuing what I want, I'm pursuing a field that I don't mind and that I know is going to expand and be flexible in terms of finding a job.

If I understand it properly, computer science is more or less what I'm learning right now. My exact course goes by the name Embedded Systems Engineering.

CS is a very flexible course.
- There's in my case a 50/50 split between programming and building shit yourself. So there's little chance you'll get bored of doing the same shit over and over.
- You'll pretty much be trained to build shit from scratch. (means with some self-discipline you can pretty much invent your own shit if you want)
- Computer science usefulness is 100% guaranteed in the future and as far as I've heard companies are pretty much jumping for folk like us.
- When you're done you will know both a large variety of coding languages as well as be capable with electronics and handy with your hands. You will be very capable of working in team-based projects. You will have learned to work in an extremely neat fashion. You'll have learned plenty of other things too, but this is my experience thusfar. All in all that leaves you with a fairly big choice of jobs, which is always nice.
