Very interesting. Can't really know for certain if it's all true or just good old "fanboyism exageration", but it was no doubt interesting, and if true, it raised my respect for this man by a long shot.

it's hard to believe all of this is true, but anyways, our friend Tesla should have known that money rules the world

It's not fake, his wikipedia article is an interesting read too, most of the comic is proven through the article. here's the part where Edison offered him money then said you don't understand the American humor, classic douchbag. Code: Working for Edison in France and the U.S Drawing from U.S. Patent 381,968, illustrating principle of Tesla's alternating current motor
In 1882, Tesla moved to Paris to work as an engineer for the Continental Edison Company, designing improvements to electrical equipment. Tesla moved on to work for Edison in America, arriving in New York City on 6 June, 1884,[52] with four cents in his pocket, a letter of recommendation, a few poems, and remnants of his belongings. His trip across the Atlantic was been pleasant; his ticket, money and some of his luggage were stolen and he was nearly thrown overboard after a mutiny broke out on the ship.[53]
In the letter of recommendation from Charles Batchelor, a former employer, to Thomas Edison, it is claimed that Batchelor wrote, 'I know two great men and you are one of them; the other is this young man', but the exact contents of the letter is disputed in McNichol's book. Edison hired Tesla to work for his Edison Machine Works. Tesla's work for Edison began with simple electrical engineering and quickly progressed to solving some of the company's most difficult problems. Tesla was even offered the task of completely redesigning the Edison Company's direct current generators.[54]
In 1885, Tesla claimed that he could redesign Edison's inefficient motor and generators, making an improvement in both service and economy. According to Tesla, Edison remarked "There's fifty thousand dollars in it for you—if you can do it".[55] This has been noted as an odd statement from an Edison whose company was stingy with pay and did not have that sort of cash on hand.[56] After months of work, Tesla finally finished the task and inquired about payment. Edison claimed he had been only joking and replied, "Tesla, you don't understand our American humor".[57][58] Edison offered a US$10 a week raise over Tesla's US$18 per week salary, but Tesla refused it and immediately resigned.[55] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikola_Teslahttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ni ... la_patents

Nope. Chuck Testa.
Btw, electricity by far doesn't power every home on the planet. There are a lot of homes without electricity.

I love how people nowadays think Wikipedia is a reliable source of information...
Anyone can just create an account and edit information.

Anyone can just create an account and edit information. I love how people nowadays think Wikipedia can't be a reliable source of information. It shows you never did a research before. Wikipedia is infact a very useful and mostly reliable source of information for those who know how to use it. Ofcourse you need to doublecheck your information by using multiple sources, but that's only normal when conducting a decent research. Wikipedia however is very effective to find out information quickly. It covers alot of fields and through the use of the links you can keep on researching whatever you want. Anyone who says Wikipedia isn't a good source of information doesn't know how to research well, and my prof. concurs.

I've done numerous research assignments throughout school, none if which used Wikipedia. Wikipedia was so frowned upon that the school had even blocked access to it from school computers. Now because I am an honest person, I didn't use methods to bypass restrictions put on internet use at school.

Anyone can just create an account and edit information. In this article it is, check the references, nothing is made up in Wikipedia, some other articles might not be very reliable, but that's not our subject.

Well, needless to say it is some amateuristic school you attented, because if they had any teachers of some level they would have noticed if you put information in your assignments that was not correct, regardless if it's from Wikipedia or not. And if the information was correct, quel problème? I can't come up with one good reason why a school should block Wikipedia.
But anyways, let's not derail this thread, it was made as an honour to Tesla after all.

The man was indeed great....especially for his idea to transmit power wirelessly (Which some dudes at MIT have now developed and able to transmit power a few meters to a night lamp through the use of resonance).....The application for something like that is really intriguing.....Never having to charge your cell phone again for one example...

Schools don't like Wikipedia, because any random can edit it however they want. As long as you can find the SAME info on a trusted site, Wikipedia is perfectly reliable. Was a good read, and I loled at poor Thomas Edison.

Yes..chicks are a geek's kryptonite....It's sadly true and pathetic at the same time..... I'd rather have the chicks any day though.....Screw making ground breaking discoveries....Tesla was so great and still didn't the get credit he deserved when compared to other innovators of his time...He might as well have hit the bars and slew a few ladies...I wondered if he died a miserable man especially after being jacked by Thomas Edison..

Everything here is true, and it's a wide known fact.
