About 15% of my salary goes towards the time I put into organizing my desktop icons.

It's only a bunch of basic time/date scripts I made for Geektool. Mostly using Proxima Nova and Helvetica Neue of varying weights for the typefaces. I also added a tiny bit of dropshadow so the text doesn't appear all jaggy, especially the thinner ones.

This is basically what the setup looks like:
Image

Portion in red box are dropshadow settings.

Here's the scripts:
Quote:
Time: date +"%I:%M" <- For 24-hour clock, replace the I with H
Month: date "+%B" | tr '[a-z]' '[A-Z]' <- Remove bolded portion if you don't want all uppercase
Day #: date +%d
Day: date "+%A" | tr '[a-z]' '[A-Z]'
Year: date +" %Y"

Off-topic, but:
Where does everyone get their icons from? (format doesn't matter)

I usually sift thru dA - but dA is meh now.
http://weloveicons.com/ is pretty good.

http://www.iconfinder.com/ sucks.

Link to the wallpaper used on your MacBook Pro please. GOGOGOGOGOGO

P.S: Everyone with the "tablet style" dock (like chrisorg), do you guys use XWD? It's the only software that I know that has that "tablet dock" but it slow as hell. Even makes some of my games run slow.

5.6 or 2.0?
either way it shouldn't be that much of a hog.

So you got your "tablet dock" using Rocketdock? Cool, I'm comfortable with that software. Could you link me the skin please.

What you will need:
  • Take ownership
This helps w/ customizing other things.
  • Patcher
This patch worked for me so... [Don't forget to make a restore point before you do anything.]

Is it true that the more crowded your desktop is the slower the computer becomes, or is that just another rumor?

Maybe if your running windows 98 with a Pentium 2...otherwise no.

actually....... even in Windows 7 if you have a ton of icons on the desktop, fragmented hard drive, clustered OS, and never been clean. Then yes having a clean desktop will improve performance.

Your hard drive is your bottleneck 90% of the time with powerful computers. so if it has to load a billion things it will decrease performance.
