Theres no way my computer could generate enough heat to justify it. Modern CPUS are worlds cooler than the original duo/quad core chips. I have a 100g aquarium sitting a few feet from the computer; at one time I entertained machining out a water block for it and running water through it with one of the 350g/hr pumps, using the aquarium itself as the radiator LOL Spose all thats left with my rig is a video card. But since everything runs smoothly on fair settings, prolly be a while before I bother Pics My SSD must be so worn down or something. Last time I ran a HDD benchmark tool on all my HDDs, my SSD scored the lowest :\

Wanted to find out how much the parts costed me on my computer. Pretty damn happy to know that all my parts are cheaper when I bought them before than now. Also, why is RAM so expensive now? Corsair Vengeance 8GB 2x4GB are going for almost $100 now...(I paid just under $60 for 4x4GB) Self reference: 2012 Boxing Day Build

Double post.
It's that time again (Boxing Day) the Asus 7870 is going on sale for 160$, and I'm tempted to run it in crossfire with my MSI 7870 Hawk, both have the exact same specs, except the Hawk runs at 1100Mhz out of the box and the Asus runs at 1000Mhz out of the box.
I've never done any crossfire/sli crap before, but should I do it now?

I say don't do it, performance gain won't be too hot and you can use that money better once next gen comes aorund which will be on a smaller chip ( awesome things ).
Actually if anything I would sell your 7870 and take the money and upgrade to a r9 280

Actually if anything I would sell your 7870 and take the money and upgrade to a r9 280 Yeah I'm constantly eyeing the R8 280x, but my 7870 is a magnificent card. That card jumped up like 20$ now; so Crossfire is out of the question I want to get one of those dual monitor table mounts, but that shit is so damn expensive! It's like 70-100$ each in Canada before shipping

Considering buying a 780 if I can get the money, maybe a 290x. My 7950 has served me well so far but I just feel dirty with AMD, I really want to get the 780. But then again the 290x is the same price and has better performance. I'm lost.

The GPU temp usually runs around 35~45C when playing games on Ultra HD settings. The hottest I've gotten it so far using a 3D benchmark is 59C but when I set the fan at 100%, it quickly dips down to 49C. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814130918

Hmm the ACX version is gonna cost me $899, but it definitely looks appealing. I'll wait maybe a week to see if aftermarket heatsinks come out for the 290x, if not I'll just got for an 780.
Also, have you tried Nvidia Shadowplay? I've heard so many good things about it and kinda want to try it myself.

I'm thinking about getting this system from a friend
CPU: AMD A8-6600K Black Edition 4.3Ghz QUAD CORE CPU COOLER: ARCTIC FREEZER 7 PRO 120mm (for over-clocking the CPU while keeping the temperatures very low and also avoiding the terrible sound the stock ones do) MOTHERBOARD: ASUS A55BM-A FM2+ with SATA 6GB/sec, USB3, AUDIO 7.1 and HDMI RAM: 2 x 4GB DDR3 G-SKILL RIPJAWS 1866Mhz DISK 1: 120GB SSD KINGSTON V300 DISK 2: 2TB WESTERN DIGITAL CAVIAR GREEN 7200RPM 64MB CACHE GRAPHICS: GYGABYTE RADEON HD7790 OC Edition
Any input, should I or should I not?

I built my first system recently, trust me there is little to be scared off. In fact I knew how to do this years ago and took not much more than watching a couple of youtube videos and having some1 with a bit more experience than yourself review your parts so that they match up.

Don't be intimidated by building a PC. It's a lot easier than you think it is. All you have to do is just make sure all your components are compatible with each other and that your case will fit everything. I've never built a computer before this thread, but all I did was just watch videos on how to build a computer. And of course, we'll be here to help you along the way

I built my first PC recently and I almost ended up buying from Digital Storm who marks up their prices by about $500~$800 more than what you'd spend from newegg for the same components. My advice is to do some reading, ask others for advice (like what you're doing now), and if possible, ask for help from a friend who has experience with building PCs. To be fair, DS is a pretty decent company with excellent customer service based on what I've read about them but it's a lot more fun to actually build one yourself and at least when something goes awry or you want to upgrade parts, you have an idea of what to do with your machine. Very helpful websites: http://pcpartpicker.com/http://www.overclockers.com/forums/Some people also post their ideas for cheap builds to get the most out of your money. I've seen some impressive $700 builds, especially nowadays when prices of cards like the GTX 660 have dropped down significantly.

Tom's Hardware is also really helpful. http://www.tomshardware.com/If you look at my first post, I was almost ready to spend $500~ on a used machine, but I ended up building my own computer for about $100 more with MUCH better performance.

Just upgraded my case (Corsair C70) to a Corsair Air 540. Love it, the biggest change is definitely my temps. I overclocked my CPU to 4.3ghz, and I'm still getting the same temps as I did in my old case (not overclocked), my GPU temp fell by 5c. Currently at idle, my CPU/GPU are running at 30c/25c~
I'll have pics up tomorrow, this case is beautiful.
