Well... 2012 has only some days left, and 2013 is on the corner! lulz
What are you going to do in the night of "December 31st"?

Btw: Should fireworks be outlawed?

I do think... they should be removed from public sale! But can still be used in "a controlled" display!

Why do you think fireworks should be outlawed? Fireworks seem relatively innocent to me.

Depends how you see it. People who use them in populated areas is idiots though. My dog is batshit scared of fireworks and when they blast just outside the window he lays under the table shaking in fear. Sure, in Sweden you arent allowed to shoot fireworks without a approval from the police. None cares though :)

Fireworks aren't exactly innocent, they can cause "serious harm" if they are not handled carefully! And fireworks are considered cruel.. because they are a source of terror for many domestic animals etc...
And Btw: All that risks and danger, Just for a 2 second thrill. eh?

Lets have another debate...this time freedom to buy and use fireworks vs banning them all over..lol.. seriously lets not..that gun debate was a drag... I have no problems with fireworks as long as people don't start purposefully pointing and releasing them at your house/property/other people...Obviously anyone doing that or even accidentally did that shouldn't be able to legally use them anymore...

Fireworks set off in rural areas can be pretty annoying/inconsiderate sometimes. Someone set off a bunch a few nights ago at 12am~, woke up every god damn dog in the neighbourhood and every person followed.

I'd say it depends on your location.
I don't think they should be allowed in dense cities or arid areas, nothing good is going to come from it.
Either way, I don't care for fireworks anymore, use them all you want, just not at 3AM. >.>"

you can freely use them one night a year, from 18:00 to 2:00
other than that, you need a permission for it :)

Should be allowed, but people should be careful about where they're pointing them at.
The night of December 31st... Going to few parties, and probably getting drunk (not wasted, just drunk enough so I don't care about cold). I drank 2 pills because of headache last year and I couldn't drink anything, so I'm going to make up for it this year.

I agree, to a point.. And I'm not against allowing fireworks completely, and I do agree that they are pretty.
But let's limit it to.. organised events to licensed people/organisations. Well, not only can fireworks hurt People/Animals but there is a fire danger.

omg american constitution law the right to bear lethal projectiles now?
-walks away-

anyway... yeah they are annoying when they go off late at night but I think for occassions they are fine. I dont really see the fascination with using them a lot anyway... once a year is enough and once you see them a few times it gets a bit tedious (like watching new year fireworks wars between new york and Sidney lol) However living in the uk they arent so much of a threat. I do agree they should be banned in drier places because of fire hazards... (sadly saw a place burnt by a firework in san Francisco and didnt realise they were that scary over there)

So it begins.

What am I doing? I'm driving my 53 year old mother and all her elderly friends around s they can have a giant pub crawl and get incredibly drunk. I've always hated New Years, most of mine have resulted in me having some of the worst days of my life. So I'm more than happy to spend my night driving my mum & co around so they can enjoy their night instead :)

I think fireworks are relatively safe...if fired somewhere not very dense areas, and everyone who is watching them should wear those eye protectors (or whatever they are called, goggles of some sort): Pains me to see that some idiots actually walk down the street with a lot of houses and moving cars around and actually fire them from a glass bottle or something...
I bought some though, got triple checked that I actually was eighteen...do i really look that young? ... :(

Fireworks aren't that bad. Here we are only allowed to use them when the new year comes, but people don't care. I've heard fireworks for many times now, even last month. Fireworks can be fun too. In 9th grade we had to sit in a police car for using fireworks in daytime and on some random day. And once we had those little ones that made a really loud bang and could blow small stuff to pieces. That resulted in us running away when a police car showed up.

For new year's eve I'm either going to be with the family or getting drunk somewhere.

Shucks, don't make me blush. Really, it's no big deal. If my actions can make someone close to me happy than it would be selfish of me to do other wise. Besides it's the festive season, it's all about spreading joy :)

Just got home from a night out in town, had a pretty good time. Fireworks were kind of boring though, but the people made it fun. Awesome atmosphere in Auckland City :sohappy:

A get together for me with friends and family.... Also lets hear the new year resolutions from you guys...Whats the plan for 2013?.. For me I will be getting back into my former football (not talking hand egg here) fitness through a variety of sporting activities such as martial arts fitness training and playing actual football again...possibly rejoin my old squad..
