Airborne Laser isn't anything new. The Air Force Base near me has been testing this system for a few years now. Only recently was the idea scrapped as the laser wasn't as efficient as they hoped it would be.
It's funny seeing it picked up by another program and given another name. Still the same concept, and I don't think they can produce a powerful enough laser with the technology that we currently have.

Having enough power output seemed to be a huge problem for most tests i have no ideea how they will get it on planes but i could see lasers work on Nuclear powered carriers wich have a huge energy source
Yeah the one on the 747. It looked so funny flying around haha.
I could see it making sense on something with a huge source of power, but yeah, no way on a jet unless they've been working on some serious stuff.
