Hey
I'm looking into buying a new iPod (classic or touch). I'm guessing most people listen to their music on smartphones but we still live in the 1990s with DSL, CRT tv (fatass back) and no smartphones (no data plan) :soosad:

Anyway I was asking, should i just go buy a "like new" one rather than a new one. Do Amazon certify the items with their ratings or do the sellers just pick? And if they just pick, how do i know whether its really "like new" (based on Amazon's policy), or just some piece of shits (esp if theres no pic)?

thanks for any advice :)

Is this for the iPod Classic or the iPod Touch? I don't see how a Classic can be bad, basically a portable harddrive filled with music. The Touch however is susceptible to a lot more problems. I'd go new if it was a iPod Touch.

like you said, no smartphone but why not just get a smartphone without data plan?
Use it for music since you want music player

but it can also download apps via wifi so you can play, make voip calls too. Plus it can act as a gps unit too when you are out

The older android phones are still good but cheaper now. Like the galaxy nexus (original) and such are cheaper than the ipod but still about the same specs generally. But they do a bit more. I mean if you just listen to music, the thing will be in your pocket anyways so why would it matter if it is an ipod or phone? Unless you want the ipod for the battery life... that's a separate issue

personally for a music player, i'd go with the samsung galaxy player but i'm an android fan :S or rather, i just like the gps on it lol. Plus it makes for a decent ebook reader when you are bored of music

well i could go either, really. 160gb classic for 230$, 32gb touch for 234$ (old 1 tho)
i wanted classic cause of the harddrive idd, been tryin to listen to more kinds of music :). but something just for music kinda seems shit, esp now.

@-.-; yea i looked into that, but verizon doesnt allow any smartphones without data plan :/. unless you mean gettin one without contract (so theres no calling either), in which case im not sure, depends how much cheaper it is than ipod touch i guess (and the storage)

You can buy a phone that works on Verizon, take your sim card that is in your current phone and put it in the new phone. You won't be able to use data (because you aren't paying for it), but everything else will work perfectly fine. Verizon probably won't SELL you a smart phone at a discounted price without making you pay for data on your contract, but I'm fairly certain they won't limit what phone you use if you buy it sans contract.

btw, verizon uses cdma so no sim cards

yeah I meant using it off plan, no phone calls but good for a backup if you get a gsm phone. And storage space can be covered if you buy sd card(s) then switch them in/out

yeah an ipod would give best storage per dollar but it offers less features such as gps and compass
