Runtime Error Notice

Date : 9/6/2006
inquiry : 2585

Hello. This is Silkroad Online.

For those of you recieving runtime errors, it is suggested that you install the most recent graphic card drivers. The ones present in the Databank section of our homepage are NOT the most recent graphic drivers.

You can download the most recent graphic drivers at:

For Nvidia users
For ATI users

Most recent Nvidia GeForce driver released Sept 01, 2006.
Most recent ATI RADEON driver released Aug 18, 2006.
If you have not updated since then, getting the newest drivers *may* fix some or all of your question mark errors under the new patch.

Well, I suppose it's nice they actually addressed the issue. But I'm running current drivers and still get the error........so whatever. Maybe some will find this news helpful, and hey......if nothing else, at least they updated their drivers!

I'm not so sure that downloading these drivers is a good idea. First of all, you will still probably get d/c frequently. (I have heard that that box w/ the question marks is actually a safe kick to prevent the servers from crashing like they did awhile ago. This is yet to be confirmed.) Second of all, I d/l the drivers from their website awhile ago (before this update) and the install bombed and I couldnt roll back my drivers and i got the black screen after boot so i had to reinstall os. :banghead: Also, like Chrystos said, the new Radeon drivers didn't work. However thats just my oppinion, do whatever you like, ur prolly more knowledgeable about hardware than i am. (im somewhat of a n00b.)

Right now it's laggy because the server is clogged with people downloading the new patch, and very busy with people logging in and out, being disconnected because they bot or they need a new driver or the patch is glitchy. In any case there is way more server activity than usual and it always lags after this size of update.

MARKsman, I have downloaded and installed the newest Geforce drivers and have had no problems. Downloading new drivers is always a good idea, but it is also a good idea to be prepared to roll them back if you have a problem. You don't have to keep it but you should try it out in case it works better than what you have.

I would have to agree with the above comment. I recently updated to the NVIDIA 91.47 WHQL drivers and the "???????" boots seem to be less frequent.

Keep in mind that there is both hardware lag and network lag. SRO is known to have a low-ish framerate even on highend machines.

i'm constantly getting lag spikes after this update, kinda answers maybe why... but how come 90% of people are unaffected?

SRO has shader 2.0 requirements i think, so if you are running a nice 32mb thats old, it may only supoort 1.0 and your net framework depends as well, the motherboard drivers too, i just advise you too update everything, even sound drivers lol, SRO is a very sensitive piece of software lol
